The Cherry Pit Presents: MARVELOUS for the Traveling House Show @uptowntheatermn Marvelous is the founder of The Cherry Pit, cherry concessions started back in 2019 in the basement of his parent’s house in Madison, Wisconsin. Marvelous is a community leader, composer, bandleader, pianist, singer and guitarist. Drawing deep inspiration from BAM (Black American Music) Marvelous weaves a tapestry of sound between jazz, soul, blues, classical and folk with a experimental edge. We are throwing the afterparty for the @uptown_association Art Fair!“The Traveling House Show” is an immersive concert experience meant to make you feel like you’re in a vintage living room, sitting on a sofa while watching world class performances from local legends. The lineup includes:@xinamp3 - The most eclectic avant-pop star known to 2026@cameronwrightladiva - The greatest vocalist you’ll ever hear live. An immaculate storyteller and warm spirit. @marvelous.leonardo - A brilliant composer/ pianist/ vocalist championing improvisation through a myriad of old world inspirations. @your.barrister - An un-ignorable stage presence that will baffle you, and a voice that will soothe your soul. “THE CONVERSATION PIT” # 4 How to minimize the POISON of capitalism while working with your friends? As an artist, it’s only natural to collaborate with those closest to you. How do you navigate your working relationships with people that you love? Needing to earn money and pay our bills takes a lot of our focus and energy as career artists. This can take a larger percentage of our time than feels natural. How do you navigate working in these conditions? How do you communicate with your friends and loved about on projects when finances need to be considered?This Saturday, July 11th from 12pm-3pm @flavorworld_ Free entry, RSVP aboveIn this a monthly event series by The Cherry Pit we will host community conversations about a variety of creative topics. Last month our topic was: Who, What, Where, Why, How, and When do you separate art from the artist? You will have the chance share your point of view in a large circle, and/ or in small breakout groups. All people are welcome, musicians, non musicians, artists, non artists… come one, come all! This is meant to be a focused discussion. We want you to depart feeling more connected to one another. Come ready to share honestly and listen intently. Your facilitators will be Phozz Aka William Toney, Marvelous aka Leo Dreis, and Skye MacCoon There will be free coffee and bagels to share. Event programming begins promptly at 12pm. (Week 63) Cherry Pit Open Jam @berlinmpls RECAPThis jam session is every Wednesday from 10pm-12:30am Keep pulling up! We’ve been at capacity every week for months now, and often have a full sign up sheet. Not every person that signs up will have a chance to play. We prioritize putting musicians on stage who want to improvise with other musicians and play a song where EVERYONE who wants to solo can do so! Its an open jam with the communal, improvisational nature of a jazz jam. If you’re looking for a way to get one stage and get involved, a great way to do so is be learning the “Tunes Of The Week” which we post on a patreon every week. You can also practice improvising on your own, because if you show up with ONE specific song in mind and want to treat our space like an open mic, you are much less likely to get a turn on stage. If you have questions about the space please reach out and ask, we will always be kind and accepting of all people in that context. All are welcome in this space. Long time Cherry Pit friend Ivan Cunningham ( @oooivanoo ) is a brilliant avant garde composer and saxophonist based in LA California! He is incredibly daring and exploratory in his creativity, and it’s a genuine honor to have him back in The Cherry Pit space. Another special guest this week! Oh my god we have two!!! Ethan Yeshaya will be playing electric bass. Ethan is one of the most in demand bassists in the Twin Cities, frequently collaborating with L.A. Buckner, Cameron Wright, and many more.
