This piece commissioned for a friend 💕 The circle symbolizes the cycle of water and life, always flowing, changing form, rising into the atmosphere to return to earth once again. How many iterations and lifetimes has it passed thru? And along the way, what does it remember? What the Water Remembers 24”x24” Acrylic on wood panel ✨SOLD #OaklandArt #OaklandArtist #BayAreaArt #BayAreaArtists #EastBayArt by @thailanwhen

One of my latest water paintings under a black light… I love getting lost in this piece day or night. Look at all the layers, you can really see how many I used to create the depth in this piece. It also reminds me of the magic of bioluminescence ✨🌊 #painting #art #Bioluminescence #oaklandartist #bayarea Magic River 45”x45” Acrylic on wood panel by @thailanwhen

Magic River #4: Labradorite Acrylic on wood panel 45”x45” 2500 ✨Available The largest piece in my Magic River series so far! Its deep luminosity also reminds me of labradorite, a beautiful gemstone with iridescent qualities. As the light shifts, this painting reveals new layers, shimmering like sunlight dancing on water. As you move around it, different shapes and prismatic patterns emerge, it really feels alive! I recently spent five days at the river camping and celebrating my birthday with dear friends… No five star hotel compares ☺️ Nature has a way of healing the spirit and putting everything back into balance. This piece channels that magical, restorative feeling that the water brings me ✨🌊 ✨ 2500 Available for purchase Pickup or delivery in Bay Area/LA. #painting #art #water #originalart taken in Oakland, California by @thailanwhen

Magic River #1 Part of my new water series Original acrylic on wood panel Available ✨ DM for purchase 18”x 24” $550 Summer is my favorite time of year. No other season contains as much visceral joy and residuals of childhood memories. If I could pick a single month to live in forever it would be July. There is absolutely nothing on earth that makes me feel more alive than jumping into an ice cold river, so clear you can see to the bottom. In these new paintings I try and capture the magic of water, its movement and luminosity as light dances thru it. by @thailanwhen

Offering. 28” x 40”
Available. Message me for more info 💕 She is light, carrying little, just enough sustenance to share, yet she offers you everything she has. Her food, her stories, her understanding. You listen to her stories until they become yours, one day you will tell them to someone else. The mountains behind her echo her resilience. The vibrant colors hold her memories, still vivid after all these years… She embodies both the softness of childlike curiosity, and the quiet calm of an elder whose wisdom has deepened over a lifetime. by @thailanwhen

Just finished my mural for Ming’s Tasty! Corner of 10th & Webster in Oakland’s Chinatown. I’ve been a longtime fan of their food, so I was stoked when Sean and Teresa from @stickyriceclub commissioned me for this piece. Sticky Rice Club is an amazing non-profit supporting the community, highlighting artists and putting on events that bring people together. Huge thanks for the opportunity and support throughout the process! 🙏 Extra shoutout to @thee_jason_g for helping with the install and making everything run super smoothly. This mural was inspired by a 2,000-year-old Guangzhou legend of five magical goats who brought wheat to a starving village, saving it from famine. Sunny, the owner of Ming’s Tasty, really connected with its message of hope and resilience, a reflection of how challenging it can be to run a small business in a neighborhood that’s faced tough times in recent years. If you haven’t been to Ming’s Tasty yet, you need to go! The food is absolutely incredible and while you’re there check out the mural 🤩🌾🐐✨ taken in Ming's Tasty Restaurant by @thailanwhen

Jaguar Garden This piece has been with me for 13 years. Sometimes you make art for others, art that you attach to temporarily but can still let go of… and sometimes you make it for yourself, art for the soul, that stays with you to serve its highest purpose; to reflect, protect and inspire. Jaguar Garden has been this for me. I have rarely shown this piece, but something told me to bring it to @Bioneers. I had an incredible weekend and made some meaningful connections, both personal and creative. On the last day of the conference, this painting was ready to move on and I was finally ready to let it go. Both I and its new owner got misty-eyed, realizing what it has meant to me, and understanding that it would now serve to inspire them. When I made Jaguar Garden, I was calling in the animal guides I needed, and visualizing the woman I wanted to become. I let go, not only of the physical painting, but the time it represented, honoring my transformation and the spectrum of joy and grief of the past 13 years. Objects can serve many purposes, some functional, some sentimental, even spiritual. But eventually you must let them go, one by one, and in the end, all of them. I choose to learn this vital lesson, little by little, and never thru force, because to let go too soon bypasses the lesson. To engage with detachment, you must first truly attach and commit before ultimately letting go… Jaguar Garden is in new hands. Cycle complete. Thank you universe 🌝 by @thailanwhen

I’ve been working on a mural for a local restaurant. My studio is a little too small for the panels, as well, the fumes were killing me… so I decided to bring it into my backyard and it’s been super nice to be surrounded by greenery, squirrels, and birds. I almost became one with the yard, I think the squirrels almost ate out of my hand. Now 2/3 panels down. Hope to wrap soon and install in the next week or two. Stay tuned 😌🙈 by @thailanwhen

This painting is inspired by one of my all-time favorite films, Everything Everywhere All at Once. It depicts the moment when the multiverses collide and fractal, and you must make a decision…. You can either crumble under the weight of all the choices you did not make in this life, or discover and harness the power of your present incarnation ✨ What will you choose? “All at Once” is available for purchase in my shop link in bio. Delivery and install available in the Bay Area and LA.
