I attended the @scbwiaustintx conference this weekend and had the opportunity to participate in the portfolio showcase, and share my work! 🎨✨ One of my favorite parts was meeting so many talented illustrators, authors, and agents. Seeing their work, hearing their stories, and connecting with other creatives in the field was so inspiring!

A huge thank you to the Austin team, and all the volunteers who made this event possible! 🧡🐮 by @thao.illustrations

Okay but the before and after 🫣😅

When decorating it's okay to take your time and not rush! It took me about a year and a half to collect all these items, and I added what I genuinely loved! 📚🎨✨

I meant to record me adding the shadows and highlights, but I was so in the zone that I completely forgot 😂

A quick look at how a page spread goes from a rough draft to final print ready art! 🎥✏️🎨

Adding the finishing touches is one of my fav parts! There's something so satisfying about outlining the characters 😌🤌🏼

When working with clients I usually do 3 rounds of sketches (this video is part of round 2):

1. Rough draft: To see the general layout and the gist of how characters will look

2. Sketching: More detailed lines, here is where I do the bulk of the edits, or changes. ✍🏼

3. Fine line: Once the sketches are approved I move on to the final sketches and clean up any lines before painting! 🎨
