It’s a No-Gi Summer!

Thinking about starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Here’s why you should give No-Gi a shot—especially if you’re a beginner:

🥋 No-Gi = Faster Learning Curve
Without the grips of a gi, beginners get to focus on movement, body control, and timing—key foundations of BJJ.

💨 Speed & Scrambles
No-gi tends to be faster-paced, helping you develop quick reflexes, strong balance, and fluid transitions early on.

🧠 Real-World Application
No-gi techniques closely mimic real-life self-defense situations or MMA, making it more practical for some goals.

🤝 Beginner Friendly Culture
Many no-gi classes welcome newcomers with open arms and simplified, effective techniques.

👕 Simple Gear
All you need to start? Rashguard + shorts. No gi = no excuses.

📍 Whether you’re chasing fitness, self-defense, or competition, no-gi BJJ is a killer way to begin your journey.

BJJ is on Monday nights at 8:30PM and Fridays at 6:30PM with Coach @tharson801.

DM, or email 📩info@valourmartialarts.com to schedule your first class! taken in Valour Martial Arts + Fitness Club by @tharson801

NextGen 2018 Masters Blue Belt Heavyweight Gold - great event this weekend put on by @nextgenerationbjj . Small tournament but growing every year! Although I wasn’t able to do any judo throws as I would have liked, I was still able to get the body lock and trip instead of pulling guard as planned. The rest was basics from there. @corebjj #nothingfancy #bjj #bowandarrow #basic #everydayporrada taken in Ryerson University - Kerr Hall by @tharson801

I’m glad they’re getting along even more now, just wish it wasn’t at the expense of bed space 😂🌚&🌞 #petsofinstagram #ilovemycat #bff #friendship #catsofinstagram #cats #grooming #kitten #kittensofinstagram by @tharson801
