I think it is. All-wheel-drive has been almost a requirement for me as I’ve gotten older and still daily my cars. Having dedicated summer/winter tires has been amazing on top of it. Being able to always navigate out of somewhere and not have to worry about that racecar life is so much easier on the soul. Still wish I could do a burnout though.

The longer I own this car, the more I realize people don’t actually argue about the build. They argue with the version of the car they’ve already created in their head.

Some people see an M440i and stop there. Some people see an M badge and immediately have an opinion. Some people see a yellow fuel nozzle and confidently ask if it’s diesel. It’s honestly impressive how quickly people can fill in the blanks without asking a single question.

Meanwhile, I’m just over here trying to build the weirdest version of this platform I can. A convertible, a B58, Chinese parts, AI tuning, ethanol, a license plate that makes BMW owners roll their eyes, and a build that’s somehow become more entertaining than I ever expected. If that means I have to read the same three comments every time I post, that’s probably a fair trade.

I’ve been sad in cheaper cars, and I prefer this.

People love telling you money can’t buy happiness like I expected the BMW dealership to resolve every issue I’ve ever had. Brother, I wanted a convertible. If it also gives me something to look forward to after a long week, that’s a pretty fucking good optional extra.

There’s a very specific kind of stupid that comes with owning a car you love. You park it, walk toward the house, turn around to look at it, then somehow end up taking fourteen pictures of the exact same car you photographed yesterday. You go outside for something completely unrelated and suddenly you’re standing in the driveway admiring it like it helped pay the mortgage. It didn’t. It is actively making that harder.

And yes, it’s an M440i. The TEMU M4. Financial responsibility with a suspicious number of exceptions. I could’ve bought something cheaper and put the difference somewhere sensible, but then I wouldn’t have a blue BMW in the driveway making “I need to grab milk” feel like an actual plan for the evening.

Money bought the car. I’m the idiot smiling every time I see it. 😂

The older I get, the more I realize most adults are just figuring life out as they go.

You grow up thinking your parents had all the answers.

Then you reach the age they were in some of your childhood memories and realize they were dealing with their own problems, fears, mistakes, and responsibilities while trying to raise you.

Now having problems of my own, I understand that struggle on a completely different level.

You’re trying to build a life, provide for your family, be a good husband, be a good father, and somehow still figure out who you are along the way.

Want to put V-brace covers on your G22/23 M440i but haven’t found out how? Don’t worry I have you covered.
Parts - G20 V-brace covers
Tools - Socket wrench, T30 Torx bit, trim removal tool for push pins, gloves, marker, measuring tape, saw
Pull the covers between the bumper and the aluminum radiator plate. There’s 3 to remove. Then you have full access to the V-brace. Measure weld to weld, or have the bottom extend a bit further. Weld to weld on my car was 7.75”. Cut the braces to length. Snap them in. Reinstall all the panels.
