I'm Bea, a 41-year old trans woman and I'm walking every inch of New York City to lose weight for (a different) gender affirming surgery. 🩷🩷

But six weeks ago I took a little break from my normal walks to undergo Facial Feminization Surgery, which is really several surgeries all at once.

FFS makes me feel safer in a world that feels increasingly hostile, but mostly it was about helping me recognize the face in the mirror. And I'm thrilled with the results.

So much thanks to the wonderful surgical team at @ffsnyc , the lovely hospital team (especially all the awesome nursing staff who put up with me 😁🫶), every friend who's been with me along the way, and of course my amazing wife!!

Now let's get back to walking, there's more to see!!

My wife has been the most amazing person throughout this entire journey, but this was just perfect! 🥹

Some other things we've learned:
- Figure out a hand sign in advance that means, "I love you, I'm okay, but it hurts to talk"
- Make sure you're comfortable peeing in front of your person 😅
- If you're the caretaker, make sure you get rest too
- My wife took a week off work, that was pretty perfect

And if I think of more, I might make a part two!!

This is an appreciation post! 🩷🩷

Just over a week ago I underwent my first (of potentially several) gender-affirming surgeries, a complete facial feminization procedure. And I could never have done it without the amazing support of my wife.

She's been unbelievably supportive from the start of this journey, but she has taken on so much this last week and I love her so much!

So it's understandable that she's a little tired, it's been a long week!

Just a quick update. I underwent Facial Feminization Surgery one week ago and I'm recovering well.

I shouldn't look dramatically different, but the goal was to specifically target some features that caused the most dysphoria. And even though it can take up to six months to see the final results without swelling, just what I can see now let's me know it was worth it.

Have any questions at all about all of this? Ask away, I'd love to have something to do while I take it easy for a few more weeks.

I'll be having facial feminization surgery soon, and I've been told that I can pick the song I go to sleep with. So it's got to be something by @kesha but which song? If you don't like these choices let me know in the comments. by @thatbeaoverthere

Hi, I’m Bea. I’m a 41-year-old trans woman who spent decades believing my window had closed. But a few years ago, I finally decided to stop performing for everyone else and start living for me. 🩷🩵🤍

Right now, my focus is entirely on hitting the weight and health targets I need for my gender-affirming surgeries, so I started walking all of New York City (and some other fun places) and I'm using these daily walks to find adventure, connect with the woman in the mirror, and build the confidence to step out my front door with absolute pride.

This path isn't a straight line and some days are a lot tougher than others, which is why I know I can't do it solo. I'm leaning on my community for strength and counting on you all to keep me moving.

So I hope you'll walk with me.

Sharing New York City and the things that bring me joy with the people I love is just amazing. This week, my cousins came to NYC and we took a trip to the Met, the results were... Well I did my best 😅

Navigating the massive crowds at the men's sportsball parade was a total workout, but that's kind of why I did it.

I'm Bea, and I'm a 40-year-old trans woman walking every inch of New York City to lose weight for my gender-affirming surgery. Today's walk was pure madness, but we got the steps in and survived the celebration.

Stick around for the next one, It's guaranteed to be a little bit more peaceful.

This won't be controversial at all!! But seriously I hope you'll help me defend these wonderful new spaces that have grown in the last few years. Women's sports bars have provided a safe space for all women, I absolutely hate to see us lose any of them.

And as someone who worked in bars, I know a small hiccup can have a disastrous result in your bottom line. So please come out to support @wilkassportsbarnyc @athenakekesnyc and @blazerssportsbar

Okay, so donuts definitely aren't on the diet, but the goal was never perfection, and trust me, some special guests visiting from out of town made sure that I definitely got my steps in on this day.

Just in case it isn't clear, nobody's paying me for this stuff, I just like showing you things I think are fun. But if they want to pay me, I'd gladly take it and donate it to a cool queer charity.
