POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
it’s been on my heart to share my testimony for some time now. i write these words with the hopes of being able to help others. mental health has become a big priority in my life as it’s something i’ve really struggled with for the past 5 years of my life. i was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety at the start of highschool, and what i thought was an answer turned out to be so much more than that. it’s led me to countless therapy sessions, outpatient programs, to trying several medications, brain stimulation treatments, yet i still struggle pretty much daily. i battle the worst of things too like self harm and suicidal ideation more than id like to admit. it’s impacted my life in more ways than i can count, school, sports, friendships, relationships, life in general.

navigating mental health is hard and no one really teaches you how to face it and figure it out. but i think that’s a big part of it, no one has it figured out, no one has all the answers, because its different for everyone and there’s not really one answer that works for everyone. its okay to struggle. it’s okay to feel and show emotion. it’s okay to hurt and feel down. it’s okay to have bad days and bad weeks. that’s what makes us human. if it weren’t for the lows what would the highs mean? no matter how you feel, happy, sad, angry, frustrated, depressed, anxious, it’s all valid and normal to feel. you’re not wrong, messed up, or less worthy for having those thoughts and feelings.

someone i look up to once told me that you are not your thoughts or feelings, they’re just a shirt you wear. and it’s something that’s really stuck with me. and that shirt changes daily. so when you have a bad day know you get to put a new shirt on tomorrow and start fresh. i’ve also learned how important it is to communicate and express your feelings in a positive light. things like journaling, finding someone to talk to, listen to music, get outside, find tools to help distract or positively express yourself. you can’t always hold everything in and figure it out on your own. sometimes you have to ask for help, and as scary as that can be, it’s one of the strongest things you can do. not that it immediately by @thatcher.ivey
