Soft Parenting SUCKS 🗣️

If you want to raise kids who are brave, adaptable, and genuinely adventurous, it starts with building resilient parenting skills. Bringing your kids along for the ride—hiking the extra mile, embracing the unexpected weather, or pushing through a tough day outdoors—isn’t easy. In fact, it’s rarely comfortable. But you aren’t raising kids for the easy moments today; you’re raising the adults they will become tomorrow.

They won’t remember the times you kept them safe in a bubble, but they will thank you later for teaching them how to handle the wild.

The Reality: Easy choices produce fragile habits. Real confidence comes from doing hard things together. 🤝

The Goal: Trade comfort for capability. Show them how to navigate discomfort instead of hiding from it. 💪🏼

Welcome to the rebrand 🤝

For those of you that have been following me from high-school, college, and post grad you may be familiar with my main page @jayxnina

I wanted to start a separate Dad page where I could post more content that didnt fit well with our outdoor adventure travel niche. Here you can expect to see a lot of Dad, faith, and lifestyle content.

The goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire you to grow closer to God, be a better parent, and leave a legacy. 👏🏼

I’m struggling with how fast life is flying by. I never really imagined myself at this age—living and experiencing as much life as I have.

I’ve been so blessed by the people Hod has put in my life. My beautiful wife. My incredible friends. I miss the good old days but I know only better will come.

Lord continue to speak to me through others. I have felt love. I have felt pain. I’ve laughed and I’ve cried. You are the God of the peaks and the valleys. Yet You still meet me wherever I am—exactly as I am. You are so patient with us. Thank You—amen.

Bruce is a part of the family. Our big yet little home. While we have to be fairly minimalist with the stuff that we have in our Van, we always have ALL of our stuff on us wherever we go which is quite convenient. Although, it has been pretty difficult to host friends while out here—we have made it work. Already making plenty of memories with plenty more to come. So thankful that we put in the work to make this van all that it is. If you want to see exactly how we did it, the full building process has been beautifully documented on our YouTube channel so check it out.

4/23/21 marks the day that I followed through with one of the biggest decisions of my life—to make Nina Rose Dykes my wife. I remember sitting in marriage counseling with my parents as Nina and them talked about all of the wedding details. After some time sitting quietly, they asked me what I wanted. Out of nowhere my eyes were filled with tears. All I wanted from this day was God’s presence. All I wanted was His eternal blessing over our commitment to one another. And when this big day came—He showed up. The most important guest. This day was not about us, but You.

Thank You, for showing up. Thank You, for witnessing and entering into this covenant with Nina and I. You have blessed me far beyond what I could’ve ever imagined. Help me to be a Godly husband and if it is in Your will, a father. Help us to come to know You more. Use us for Your Kingdom. May we serve as a light and an example of Your love in this life. All of the glory is Yours—forever. Amen.

I am proud to announce the future wife-elect for my lifetime!

I asked Nina to be my girlfriend on 7/7/18. Now, on 12/12/20, I asked her to be my wife.

Luke 12:34 “For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.” Nina I have found my treasure in you. God has given you, my heart. I cannot wait to love you for the rest of my life.

Hopefully the pictures tell a small portion of the proposal story. But don’t worry. The ENTIRE day, (and prep for it) was filmed. So expect the video sometime before the New Year!

I wanted to give a special thanks to Robert, Justin, Gabs, Mike, and the rest if the SC Dive team for giving me this incredible opportunity to not only watch my fiancé get SCUBA certified, but to propose to her in the process. Thank you Ronnie and Anna for getting her nails done sneakily, organizing the engagement party, and helping me with all the decisions I made in getting the ring, proposal ideas, etc... To the rest of the friends—GOOD JOB KEEPING THE SECRET. She had no idea. No idea. You guys have helped make each of us into the person that we wanted to marry.
