Bimbo's sweet zio gave us a bunch of #friggitelli last week so I decided to use them to make #tamales! This pepper isn't spicy and its taste is incredibly similar to a poblano. My ONLY complaint is that the corn husks I bought at @heb were so small thus, they came out quite small. Lol. Granted, they fit perfect in my spaghetti pot 🥲 (I REALLY need to figure out how to get a tamalera here) and I only made 26 which is SO WEIRD as my fam usually makes like 100+ at a time. And 26 was NOT enough because I meant to share and only had SIX left for one person to give a d just 3 for us. 😂 So they turned out vegetarian and they were DELICIOUS! I may have forgotten how to make the masa while I was winging it since no recipe for 26 tamales exist and my mami is unavailable to talk at 2am, lol, but it all came back and my masa turned out delicious and vegan too. So my black beans with #mozzarella and frigitelli with mozzarella definitely were a hit with bimbo. And guess what yall? Zio gave us another bag full of frigitelli today again! Hehehe. I need a bigger pot!

Y decidí hacer tamales hoy de la versión italiana de rajas con queso ya que los combiné con la mozzarella y quedaron DELICIOSOS. También hice de frijol negro con mozzarella e igual estuvieron riquísimos. Aunque eran vegetarianos, salieron tan riquísimos que solo me sobraron 3 (bueno 9 pero 6 para regalar). 🥲 Es lo que me pasa por no tener tamalera y tener que usar la olla del spaghetti. 😂 Y tendré que hacer de nuevo tamales de rajas con queso porque el tío nos regaló más friggitelli hoy de nuevo! 🌶️🫘🧀🫔🫔🫔🫔🫔 #tamal #CiboMessicano by @thatgirlyes

Because I can only do a #MailInBallot (FUTrump), I don't receive the "I Voted" sticker so I asked bimbo to make me one and not only did he deliver, it was totally beyond my expectations with the addition of my lovebug, Annibale! 😂😅😆🤣😍🥰😘 But seriously, despite living abroad and STILL (for better or worse) being an American, I have the privilege to continue voting. And even though stupid ass TX placed me on the suspensed list AFTER changing my info during my last visit this past May/June, Im incredibly glad I checked my status about a month ago and got on it ASAP.

So off I went this morning to mail my ballot. I'm just a bit sad that I am only allowed to vote for federal offices but Im still glad and grateful to be able to participate while we still are able to. But we def canNOT have lazy ass Cornyn nor hypocritical pos Paxton in office, James T all the way. From one former teacher to another former teacher, high five to all my teacher friends. If you love your teachers, please vote for Talarico.

I def may have saged and rubbed an egg on my envelope as it makes it way to my amazing, helpful, and patient County Clerk, Teneshia H. And yall back home, re-elect her, she will be on your ballot. And tnx to my local posta as they are so patient and helpful with me as well and also get excited when I send anything voting related. 🥹

Lastly, I BEG of yall, to please, please not take this American right for granted. #GOVOTE. Make sure you are registered in YOUR STATE. If you need help, LMK. DM me. I will guide you. What's a #ScooterRally without a #cheese vendor yall? Only in Italy and it is totally the American in me head-over-heels with the fact of how AMAZINGLY this scooter rally for @faro_tondo_scooter_club that my now friend @mattia_ft put in went! The love and heart def showed because WOW! It wasn't just fun but the support and attendance by soooooooo many scooterists from far and wide (Italy, Hungary, and Austria, and even one brave soul that rode ALL the way from Bristol, 🇬🇧) left me in awe. This cheese vendor happens to be a scooterist that purchases from local cheese producers on his scooter, and then sells from his little trailer. 😍🧀 Oh, I love cheese in case yall didnt know. This event also had another scooterist selling his own honey as he is an #apiarist! 🥹🥰🍯🐝 Please support your local apiarists and bees yall! There were other vendors like a vintage clothing store, a tattooist, and someone selling books, calendars, stickers, vintage postcards, and other adorable paper products.

Then of course, the music was fantastic with many DJs and their record collections spanning many genres and decades which definitely was nothing like a soul event like I am used to. But that was fun to listen to and dance to as well. So much so, I am sore today or maybe it's from being over the hill. Hehe.

Anyways, this area was also GOOORGEOUS beyond anything I could imagine. Green, lush, mountainous, natural - AI could NEVER. With curvaceous and well maintained roads PERFECT for a scooter rally. Howdy all yall! 🤠 Excited to say that I'm honored to have been invited to play my 45s at @faro_tondo_scooter_club's annual event, The Snoopy Scooter Trip 2026 in Asiago, VI. (Yes, yall, as in where Asiago cheese is from and I'm gonna try my best not to geek out).

I've been getting my fav soul chulo 45s in order and ready to close out summer in NE Italy with many new ppl and some faces that I know and cannot wait to see. 🥰

So thanks to @mattia_ft for the invite and putting this awesome event together!

And lastly, to my friend (that I miss so much 🥹), @monicabarto who is not only a girl's girl, but dropped my name to join this great event. She is def a friend and a grand person to have in your corner. I am excited to spin alongside this evening with her and many other DJs as well!

Yeah, yeah I chose this song because I just watched Baz's "Romeo and Juliet" and a) I am SO glad to have been alive as a teen when it came out and remember vividly how us all teeners were in LOVE with it, b) how great Mercutio/Harold P was in this role and THIS scene ❤️ and c) this song is an absolute bop. #MuppetBabies was part of my trinity of cartoons on Nick Jr. back in the 80s and early 90s. Followed by the best ever, David the Gnome and the anime that no one ever seems to remember but still has forever lived in my brain all of these yrs later, Adventures of Little Koala. Today is six years of finding this love bug in the streets of Northside Htx while playing Pokémon Go late at night during the pandemic and sharing my bed with this sweet, loving fur ball since. I looove my Anni bebé who has lived more years (4) in Italy than Htx now, which I realized today. 😊😍🥰😘 This was probably a month after I decided to keep him and had grown back his patchy fur, gained some weight, and just totally felt like home in my apt. This weekend's theme was - support your friend's endeavors!
It was marvelous. Great job to both friends and the heart and soul they put into their respective events.
It began with getting invited by my fellow American friend, @djdannykong and his 1st ever weekender at a GORGEOUS venue and playing my 45s. Inside @castello_sangaudenzio, yes, a real castle with the most gorgeous and perfect venue. The acoustics were insanely amazing and that wooden floor was perfect. The service was great by the venue and it was just a BEAUTIFUL setting. So I hope everyone in Italy can swing by next year and all future Cervesina Weekenders by @kongatonhifi! Please follow both tags!
And Saturday was followed by going up a bit more north into a cute, tiny village called Borgiallo. Our friend Gianni has been organizing a blues festival for a few years now, that was attended by MANY people, @borgiallo_blues_festival (give them some love too). It was well organized, the acts were great, he gave me a shoutout on stage being from Texas 🤠🫣 and I had my 1st arrostincini (a goat meat shishkabob for yall back home) and it was delicious. But yall, my favorite part that BLEW ME AWAY was seeing @gloriaandthedoctors. Like, I had goose pimples because her voice yall, it is out of this world. She was MADE for blues. So please go follow her and catch her and her band on tour stateside when they tour out there because they do!
