December 3rd, 2022.

Started off as a normal day, a day before my birthday. I was headed to the gym to get a quick leg day in. I walked up the stairs to my complex gym and started to immediately get dizzy. I thought to myself “nah this ain’t it” I have to go home. Soon as I got outside I couldn’t breathe, collapsed to the ground, legit was gasping for air. I didn’t know what to do besides lay on the ground and call 911. As my breathing became more rapid I thought to myself “This is how I go out? Not being able to get air with my shoes off in the middle of my complex!” When the squad arrived, they said everything sounded fine in my lungs, maybe it was Covid. I took a test and it was negative thankfully.

Later that night I still was feeling off, my breathing has been an issue for a couple weeks, I thought it was just because I pulled a muscle and my lungs were working harder to help me breathe. A good friend told me to go to the Emergency Room and get checked out. I didn’t think anything of it, so I went.

Once I finally got in a room and they ran some tests the nurse came in and immediately put me on heart monitor. The doctor came in and explained to me I had bilateral pulmonary embolism. 8-10 clots my lungs. They had no idea how it happened but I thought this was pretty much the end of my life. I was scared, nervous, and more so angry. Fast forward to today, my second week back in the gym after 2 months off. Took it for granted how much I missed this place. Luckily I’m on blood thinners, not sure for how long but my breathing is starting to get back to normal. Could have been worse if I didn’t catch it.

A few of you reached out when you saw my story, I just want to say I appreciate all of you. My friends that I consider my family, my actual family, people who I worked with. I’m more appreciative of life now. I’m happy as hell to be alive, be back in the gym, and now I know I’m here for a reason. If I consider you a friend just know I love you and I’m here. 405lbs bench Failure -> 405lbs bench lift

This man @grantshumaker has been telling me for at least 8 months now when am I gonna hit 405lbs on bench. Today I finally decided to try it. It’s been 14 years since I hit this weight. My sophomore year of college playing football at the best university in the state of Ohio, The University of Toledo. Definitely had to post about this one. taken in Fit One Four by @thatisjones

I love both of these men. When I’m dead and gone I want this post to live forever. I couldn’t be me without them.

Dad. Thank you for giving me life. You were always the man in Cleveland, everyone knew you as Chico. The best dresser, the smoothest talker, always with a smile on your face. I wish I could go back in time and give you more of a chance to actually be a father to me. I was selfish and I’ll never get that time back. Though you’re gone now, I am happy that we did at least reconnect for a little bit the short time you had on this Earth. Happy Heavenly Father’s Day.

Pops. Thank you for teaching me about life. I wasn’t your blood son, but you would never tell me that. You taught me how to be respectful, work hard for what I want, and most importantly you taught me that love knows no blood type. You are one of the most amazing men I ever been around.
