Before I became a father I was at the lowest point I had ever been. On November 24, 2018 I sustained an injury that ended my entire football career. Then, the following week, I had lost everything. Months went by and I began to give up on myself, my family, and my friends because my body could no longer function as it used to. I was contemplating life and how much my injury truly affected me. My mind was no where near being in the right place. I made a lot of bad, careless decisions, one’s I’m not proud of. I didn’t have a “why” in my life anymore. My reason waking up every morning was for football, my entire day and life revolved around it. I was going to go to the NFL and provide for my family but, after that day, I lost all hope and fell apart. Then, November 12, 2019 came. This was the first day I held and looked at my baby girl, Kaelynn. For the first time, I felt like I had my life back. My self back. I knew at that moment I had a reason and a “why” to continue a new journey. To let go of the old one, and focus on the new journey God blessed me with. I now truly understand why they say everything happens for a reason. Words cannot explain how blessed I feel to be a father. I have my “why” back. I now wake up everyday for my daughter and cannot wait to go through this new journey with my baby girl. Kaelynn, Daddy loves you and I’m so grateful you chose me to be your father. by @thatkid1022
I want to say thank you to everyone that has helped me during this hard time in my life. Today make a year since my injury happened . It’s been a difficult but also rewarding year to see how far I have come. Everything happens for a reason and this process is and will continue to be God’s plan.🙏 by @thatkid1022
Day one was a success 🇦🇺 by @thatkid1022
If you know me you know school is not my strongest point. When I made the decision to go to SMU I was doubted and questioned as to where that was going to be the best school for me academically by some of my high school teachers and people in my town. The past four years have been challenging but I wouldn’t change it for anything I made memories and friends that will last a lifetime. The support throughout my time here from friends, family, teachers & teammates to help me through all the hard times will compare to non. I can now say I have completed my four years with not only a major but a minor as well, along with being the first male to graduate from our family (@junebugjohnson16 😂). But without me believing and having faith in God non of this would have been possible. And finally “b***h, I graduated call me ‘big fish’”- Meek Mill #classof2019 #smu #graduation #smufootball by @thatkid1022
