LMNL (@lmnlinvasion) doesn’t make music for the background. The Lagos-based EDM DJ and producer builds sets that are dark, fluid and deliberately consuming, the kind that pull a room inward and hold it there.

In a city where afrobeats dominates every conversation, LMNL is doing something quieter and more subversive: carving out a dancefloor that exists between worlds, and inviting anyone willing to surrender to step inside it.

subliminal messaging ep.1: the (re)percussions of uprising.

(thank you @wuraogunji for the inspiration !!)

this weekend i hosted the first episode of my radio show, “subliminal messaging”, with @sonicradio.live !! episode 1 took us on a journey through afro diasporic club experimentation; intense, percussive and bass heavy musicking. central question for this month’s curation: how do we understand embodiment and release in the context of the afro dancefloor? exploring embodied movement as ancestral, ancestral movement as fast, and the club as a fertile ground for somatic and spiritual awakening.

we flowed liminally through hybrid club and bass genres from across the globe, blending sounds from techno to baille, kuduro to gqom, and many many more. a lot of references and infuences across the afro diaspora !

i had an amazinggg time, thank you guys for tuning in. thank you so much @zamsrevenge and @van_ella27 for your energy, i love you guys so much. and be sure to check out the episode through the link in my biooo !!!

sharing some of my favorite tracks and moments. it’s a bit distorted in the beginning, so sorry for that :(

(also idk if the sound and picture of these clips align and i took too long trying to sort it out but sha check out the fully aligned video on youtube and full tracklist at sonicradio.live xxx).

see you every last sunday of the month! stay tuned for next time mwahhhhh love u xxx.

@3phaz_ - Bravamax x @awhlkuhn - WORKDAYS

opened the set with something dark and intense from Cairo-based artist 3Phaz, caught a quick flight and landed at “kamra” with awhlkuhn — an alchemy of west indian rhythms and gritty, glitchy electronic sounds.

@soundsoface - SINQ (unreleased)

brought it back home but like deeper inside the home than you could possibly imagine with this earth-shattering piece of music from hometown hero, global superstar and my personal odogwu SoundsofAce. SoA dances so effortlessly in that space between known and unknown with his music. this particular track really takes you from an ancestral place to somewhere curious and contemporary, built for *our own* dancefloor. can’t wait for this to land in our public airwaves.

flow state. @strangehouse.live was a window of salvation. dancing shirtless at 5am in a classroom in the yabs to sweet sweet strange sounds felt like a homecoming. a return to self, reminder of what we’re doing here (in the cosmic sense). the sacred ritual of movement. out of the head, into the body. right there at the gates, beings and spirits gyrating around the fire of my soul. energy transmuted.

dance-led, in a deeply spiritual sense. if we’re not moving we die. thank u @majeurdeejay for ur glorious service.

thank u my darling @zamsrevenge for witnessing and thinking to document this, i love u. by @thatllmnlguy
