A podcast for those chasing “that rom com feeling” from authors @clarefletcherwriter & @karinamaywrite Ep 43 Summer Bonus ☀️📚

POSTS STORIES REELS

🎤 It’s a Christmas miracle/reunion! The poddy mics were calling, so we had to jump back on to wish you a very happy festive break. It’s been a huge few months for us – Clare welcoming her new bub, and Karina returning from her travels straight into a new job – but there is always, always time for reading.

We wanted to give you some inspo for your summer reading lists (why not add to that towering TBR?) by chatting about our favourite reads from the past few months, and what we’re most looking forward to diving into over the holiday break.

Here’s to a long, lazy summer of reading! 📚 ☀️ by @thatromcompod

Can you believe that this is our final episode for season four?! We’ll be back in your ears before the end of the year, but this conversation felt like a nice place to end things for now and leave you with a few thoughts to sit with. We speak to the wonderful Palestinian Australian author Amal Awad and we initially intended to talk about foodie fiction, which we do touch on, but we also have a really important conversation that we hope that you enjoy. 🫶 We’ll see you all on the flip side (👶✈️) but as always feel free to DM us what you are reading and watching, and let us know if you have any special requests (guests or topics!) for next season. #thatromcompod by @thatromcompod

🤘This week we chat with friend of the pod Laura Carter about the love song between musician and muse …ROCKSTAR ROMANCE ❤️‍🔥 🎸

We zoomed into the Channel Islands in Jersey where Laura lives with her young family.

Laura got her first book deal with Harlequin/ Harper Collins in 2015 and has published 13 novels to date! Her latest is Catch A Falling Star, published this year by Boldwood Books. We hope you enjoy the ep! by @thatromcompod

Souped-up cars, life (bucket) lists and pleasure quests…
This week we’re so delighted to be chatting with friend of the pod, Holly Brunnbauer, about her debut rom-com ‘What Did I Miss?’, published just last week by HarperCollins Australia.
The episode is packed with humour, heart and hijinks–just like Holly’s fabulous book–and features a couple of personal announcements from us both (one slightly more life-changing than the other…), so make sure you stick around until the end. Enjoy, enjoy (and wish us luck!). by @thatromcompod

What makes a love story literary? In this episode we discuss some new releases and old favourites with Jessica Stanley, an Australian novelist living in London and the author of ‘Consider Yourself Kissed’ which has been receiving all of the praise (and for good reason). A day or two after this conversation, for example, Natalie Portman posted about CYK. No biggie. Listen now wherever you get your poddies! by @thatromcompod

🎀 🖤Romantasy, dark romance, aesthetic bookclubs, BookTok—oh my!
This week we’re joined by publishing superstar Chloe Berry to chat all things industry trends, digital shifts, and the future of romance publishing. Chloe works in publishing marketing and social media, and she’s passionate about helping authors reach their potential using the power of social media.
From tracking the latest BookTok obsessions to predicting what’s next in the ever-evolving landscape, Chloe’s insights are a must-listen for anyone navigating the book world.
Since recording, Chloe has officially launched The Berry Agency offering tailored support for both traditionally and self-published authors. Check it out here @theberryagency 🫐 by @thatromcompod

Our guest this week has felt her ears burning through many of our episodes as we raved about her seriously bingeable Marry Me, Juliet series, so it was delightful to finally get her on the mic! We absolutely adore Jodi McAlister’s latest rom-com An Academic Affair. It’s not technically out until next week on June 3, but you’re going to want to get your hands on it. 🤓🤓🤓 Listen to our chat now wherever you get your poddies! by @thatromcompod

Prepare to hear us lose our minds a little bit, because for this episode our guest is Mhairi McFarlane! Yes, the beloved author we’ve been talking about constantly for as long as this podcast has existed! She was even more brilliant than we’d hoped, absolutely lovely, and shares some very generous insights into her writing process, her characters, writing intimacy and what she’s learned from working in a TV writers’ room.

We both LOVED Mhairi’s 2025 novel, Cover Story which released just a couple of weeks ago with @harpercollinsaustralia
A lil taster of our chat: “I think I said to my agent when I was about to write it, I’m basically doing chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. I’m just having everything I like.”🍨

We can confirm it is the perfect rom-com treat, and so is our chat. Enjoy, enjoy! by @thatromcompod

🚨 New ep alert! This week, we’re joined by Ally Blake — winner of the 2024 Romantic Book of the Year (RUBY) Award and bestselling author of over fifty warm, wistful, and whimsical romance novels. Her books have been translated into multiple languages and have sold more than four million copies (FOUR MILLION!) worldwide.
We chat about Ally’s latest release, Dating Deal with the Italian, and dive into the world of category romance. 💕

📖 💕It’s no surprise that one of our favourite types of rom-coms is the bookish rom-com! Nina Kenwood, acclaimed YA author and author of last year’s rom-com sensation, The Wedding Forecast, joins us to chat about why we have such a soft spot for love stories set in the literary world — from writers to protagonists who work in bookstores. GIMME GIMME.

We’re well and truly back in the swing of things at TRCP HQ! 💕

Our guest this episode is Steph Vizard whose debut romantic comedy, The Love Contract, won the 2022 HarperCollins Banjo Prize. We dive into the single parent trope in romance and get an *exclusive* title reveal of Steph’s second novel, coming out later this year (you’ll need to tune in to find out!). 🤫

Also Steph may have given us the quote of the poddy to date: “There’s no epidural for writers block” 😆 by @thatromcompod

And we’re back! 🎉 For what is officially Season 4… but who’s counting? (We are. WE are counting!)

We have the delightful and ever-wise Emma Grey, USA Today bestselling author of Pictures of You, in the poddy hot-seat to chat all things real-life romance – that age-old question we get asked as authors a lot: How much fiction is in our fiction? 🤪

We are SO happy to be back! We missed you!

Feel free to drop a comment below about who else you’d like to see us chatting with this season 👇 by @thatromcompod
