One of the clearest things life has taught me is that love and kindness are not found in words alone, but in presence, honesty, and the way people carry themselves when life becomes heavy.

When my love was battling cancer, I learned a great deal about relationships. I learned who could sit in hard places with us, who could show up emotionally and physically, and who could offer care that was real. I also learned that some people know how to wear the appearance of friendship without ever carrying the substance of it. That lesson was painful, but it was clarifying.

There is a difference between being pleasant and being kind. There is a difference between being polite and being honest. Real kindness does not avoid truth to protect comfort. Real care does not disappear when things become inconvenient, complicated, or emotionally demanding. Love, in any form, asks for courage. It asks us to be honest, to be clear, and to treat people with enough dignity that they are never left questioning whether they mattered.

I refuse to become the kind of person who offers a false sense of closeness, pretends to care, or leaves others carrying confusion I could have addressed with honesty. What we went through taught me that relationships should be rooted in sincerity, not performance. In kindness, not image. In truth, not convenience.

We should all carry ourselves with more love, more honesty, and more consideration for one another. Life is hard enough without adding unnecessary hurt where clarity and compassion could have lived instead. by @thats_jenk

I could go on about how gentle you were with our babies or how you literally smiled when you saw your momma walking towards you…. I could say you lit up when you were with her or how you brought so much joy to all of our lives… but Sam, everyday you saved my best friend. You brought out a softness and light in her that I truly believe only you could do. You made Taunua’s life more magical and full of love.
