I’d rather do just about anything than write this…but, we lost my mama on Saturday night.

We all had the most wonderful day together- my mom and her sister Ruthie came over to spend the day with me Jeff and Penelope. Mama had double servings of ice cream, snuggled with Penelope, we all laughed about how ridiculously loud and beefy my daughter’s burps are, and we said I love you to each other as she was leaving and I took Penelope’s little hand and waved and said “I love you Granny!” Then that evening on the car ride home with Ru, mama peacefully took a nap in the car, had a heart attack in her sleep and never woke up.

She was my best friend y’all. I didn’t hesitate to completely upend my life and move across the country for her. She was so fun. We laughed all the time. She FaceTimed with Penelope every morning and every night.

Without her, I would’ve never met Jeff and our perfect lil Nella wouldn’t be here. I owe her my whole beautiful, abundant life. And I just can’t imagine doing it without her.

I would have done anything to save her or watch one more Grizzlies game with her or scoff about how awful the Titans are, or laugh about one of us using some weird phrase from a church hymnal in everyday conversation.

As much as I am personally gutted about losing my mom, I am even more deeply wrecked that my daughter Penelope doesn’t get to experience her positively AMAZING granny. In the short 7 weeks they got together, my mom probably has no less than 7,000 pics of Nella on her phone.

I would never have thought we had enough time together, no matter how much time we got, but y’all I have no regrets that we LIVED. Man, we did it! We took the trips, we did the things, we were TOGETHER. She knew I adored her and I would ditch anyone for her. And that’s the best feeling. I can’t grasp that I will never get another memory or picture or conversation with her, but we certainly didn’t waste the time we had together. What a gift.

My dad and I are doing the best we can. Im not up to receiving calls at the moment and I don’t yet have the emotional capacity to respond to messages. But I see them and appreciate everyone who has sent their love 💔 by @thatssocravens

Every second, every moment, every experience to get her here was beyond worth it. This is hands down, unquestionably the best job I’ve ever had in my life 🏆

Thank you to all the aunties and uncles who came from all over to celebrate with us and hot dang yall straight up SPOILT us! Steve & Mary, I’m still crying from you flying in from Hawaii to surprise us. And Coco & Tommy for canceling your Mexico trip to be here. Yall the pimento, the ambrosia, the biscuits, those perfect fringe cookies, the songs, the cutie onesie wall, the wildflowers. Auntie Panda, literally EVERYTHING you did to pull this perfect day off. And everyone who showed up to love on me and this upcoming lil sassafras. Love you all madly. This day gon remain in the memory bank for life.
