We can’t drive through Downtown Las Vegas without stopping to check on our friends. This is Amanda. They feel like family to us & one of the reasons The People’s Medic exists the way it does today.

Amanda is the reason we started bringing shoes. They are the reason we learned so much about trespassing laws & how they affect our unhoused neighbors. They are the reason umbrellas are on our resource list now. & they are part of the reason one of our own is headed to nurse practitioner school for psychiatric mental health @thatstomi, because the mental health crisis on our streets needs dedicated, compassionate care.

Amanda didn’t ask to become the reason behind half our programs. They just kept showing up as themselves, & we kept listening. That’s the whole model. Our friends out here are good people who need resources, not judgment.

If you’re listening & you drive through this city, keep water in your car. Offer it to a stranger. It might be the only kindness they get today. You never know whose Amanda you might meet.

⚠️ Something we learned on Sidewalk Sunday that we need our community to know: the shaded area near the bridge is now off limits. The city posts no trespassing signs all over, which means our unhoused neighbors can’t take shelter in that shade, even in extreme heat. This directly impacts their safety & we want this on people’s radar.

It was hard to leave our friends knowing our people were still out in the sun with one less place to cool off.

Every Sidewalk Sunday we are at the historic downtown Las Vegas area, 7am to noon. This work makes dreams come true. Connecting, showing up, doing outreach with the people who make Sidewalk Sundays what they are, fulfilling.

Heat illness is our biggest concern right now, so we focused on hydration & electrolyte support, healthy protein, & cooling measures like umbrellas, sunglasses, cool towels, frozen water, & wellness checks.

Some of the best parts of our Sundays aren’t medical at all. They’re just sitting in the shade with our friends, catching up, making sure everyone’s okay. We’ve built real connections out here & it shows every week.

We need supplies right now, especially hydration & electrolyte items, protein like canned beans and drinks, & cooling gear like the ones listed above. If you’re able to help, please reach out.

🕯️Hocus Pocus, this night was one for the Book. We had a wicked good time, & the pumpkin casted its own spell on all of us.

We had our very first movie night at The Lot, & it was a smash. We watched Night of the Living Dead with downtown Las Vegas glowing in the distance, the city lights reflecting off the clouds above us.

Sometimes, when we think something is a good idea, we don’t realize how good it is until we hear from the people we invited. They were so excited they didn’t even care what the movie was. They asked when we would do it again. One person told us they haven’t seen a movie in a couple of years.

We want to do this at least once a month. It was so nice to relax, enjoy time with our community, & find better ways to connect. We are so grateful it didn’t rain. The weather was perfect. We had a few hiccups, but we learned a lot & pulled off one of our best outdoor movie nights.

Now we’d love to hear from you. What should our next movie be? Comment below!

We would also be so excited to have you join us. We’ll be sharing the date soon. Find more information at thepeoplesmedic.org or visit our Linktree.

Driving through the Sonora Pass & Sierra Nevada to my hometown, every stop feels like home. Playing in nature with my wife & BFFF is my favorite kind of comfort.

Every time I take this trip, I take it all in. Every twist & turn teaches me something: how to love with my whole heart, stay connected to everything around me, & find peace in having nothing at all.

Growing, a little more patient, comfortable, & aware.

Today was a walk in the park! We were grateful to @cityofnlv for inviting us to join their event at Tonopah Park.

Community engagement events like these are so needed within our community. We connected with lots of people who didn’t know about many of the available resources & health education. We’re so happy to be part of it, bringing more awareness, education, & health screenings to our community.

We did over 35 health checks while we were out there & talked with many people interested in learning how to be a TPM Medic. Also saw a few friends from our Sunday outreach. We absolutely loved this event & hope to join more like it.

We want to share a giant, heartfelt thank you to the City of North Las Vegas & everybody we met there for all that you do in our community. & thank you again for inviting us & thinking of us! We’re ever so happy to be in this together.

Happy 3rd anniversary, beautiful Babs <333

Being with you made me remember
What it means to be connected to everything and attached to nothing.

Being with you has been the most fun adventure.
You make me so happy,
and you make me want to be the best version of myself.

You're everything I've ever wanted and I'm so grateful for this life with you. I love you so much ♾️

Fall has always been my favorite time of the year, a season overflowing with celebration & love. This year, it holds something sacred, 3 years married to the woman of my dreams.

I adore every piece of what we’re creating together. We challenge each other to reach higher, to refine & to make things better, & that fire between us is one of my favorite things about our love. Always growing.

You give to others with everything you have & never ask for anything in return. Being who you are makes me want to do better, love more & build the life we want to see & live in together.

Your unconditional love is my strength. It makes me brave. With you beside me, we can do anything, & I can’t wait to see what we create next.

Happy 3 years, my love, of working hard but playing even harder!

It's been our distinct privilege to join @punx4change for their Volume 10 community outreach, alongside @usvetslv & so many other amazing organizations/people. Thank you to R&R Foundation for holding space for our community.

It was one of our busiest events yet, & extremely needed in our community. We saw 22 community friends & neighbors who were in need of our care.

So many of our neighbors are carrying healthcare needs that have been swept under the rug, whether by gaps in providers, barriers to access, or just falling through the cracks of a system that was never built to catch them. Being right there to meet them, connect with them, & give care that may seem simple now could prevent so much more down the road.

It was an honor to see the compassion & collaboration it took from everyone, wanting to build a deeper connection with our community friends. Working alongside such an amazing group with killer tunes made this work feel so incredibly easy.

Open Minds. Open Hearts. Open to Help.

Recovery comes in many forms, & it looks different for everyone. First, we knew we had to build a community that is understanding & accepting. That’s where we started.

Since then, people have come to us asking for recovery services, with open minds, open hearts, & a willingness to help. So we created a Recovery Coalition.

Whether someone is ready for recovery or not, we’re open. Together, we’re creating a community that meets people where they are.

We are the People Powered Care Collective.

Have you or a loved one been through this in Las Vegas? Share your story in the comments or DM us. What worked? What didn’t?
