From ‘you don’t belong here’ to winning the Impact Digital Influencer Award for Best Diversity & Inclusion Influencer 🧡🏆

Five years ago, I was a 17-year-old queer kid who left home in Jammu and came to Mumbai alone - scared, unsure, and constantly told I don’t belong here 🥺

But I stayed!

And to be recognised in this very city now…feels like a quiet, full-circle moment. Like I’m finally being seen.

I’ve always wanted to wear a saree to feel free, to feel like myself. My friend @riyachavan_ gave me one a year ago, and I just couldn’t show up for it. Until today. And I think I finally did.

This moment isn’t just mine. It belongs to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and held me through it all. Thank you to my sister, my community, my people. Special thanks and love to my friend Meera @queeromania for always inspiring me, and Vivek from Exchange4Media for seeing my work. And to my mom @sweetyade58 🏳️‍⚧️ for helping me pull this look together 🫶🏼

I may not have always been consistent, but this reminds me that numbers don’t matter, people do. Your love means everything. I’m living proof that if you keep doing what you love and don’t give up, it will find its way to you. This is just the beginning 🤩🚀

When Gannu ji is at home it’s something beautiful about people dressing up to show up for him🙏🏻
It’s a way of getting everyone together and celebrating his presence in every way possible.
Everyone becomes a child and everyone wants attention from him.
Everyone prays, enjoys his favourite Ukadiche modaks and makes secret wishes.
There is something beautiful about this festival.
