To make a wig look real and natural is a very intricate process, it’s more than just slapping the wig on someone’s head, especiallyyyy a tik tok & amazon wig. Luckily I will be teaching all of my little tricks and secret to a flawless install on Sept 12th 2026 at my first lace class! You booking or looking 👀 😉🥰? #thatzderek #columbuswigs #columbushairstylist by @thatzderek
NAHA 2026 🥇🏆😁 Before I got into my uber to be on the way to the airport I gave myself a pep talk I said, “Show them who Derek is” “ You didn’t come all the way here to no reason” “Just be yourself” and that’s exactly what I did. From the second I got to Orlando and seen the palm trees I knew this is exactly where I needed to be and my life and career is so much bigger than Columbus Ohio. To be in a room with the most awarded and talented hairdressers in the world with the biggest name clientele and being represented by the biggest companies in the industry is a life changing experience that I’m still trying to take all in. Not only that but to win Student Hairstylist of The Year is even more crazy & such an honor. Being supported by my Aveda team every step of the way is one of the most heartwarming feelings ever. Like the owner of my school tied my tie for me, now that’s a flex! I met some of my favorite stylist and also met some very talented student stylist that will pave the next generation of the beauty industry. I know now that dreams really do come true when you work hard. Never would I have thought a year ago while struggling to keep my fire lit that I would be experiencing this, and now I know that if I can make it this far, I can make it anywhere and reach any goal I put my mind to. Thank you @avedacolumbus @probeautyassoc @shanessalonbeat @antoinettebeenders and sooo many more! by @thatzderek
