Yesterday morning I met Jarryd during the middle of his surf session as he came out of the water just to give some love to his loyal companion, Snoopy. He told me he wasn’t done surfing, but that he just couldn’t resist coming out of the water to say hello to Snoopy, who had been patiently waiting on the beach and running to the water’s edge after each of his waves. He then let me know that Snoopy’s days on the beach were coming to an end as his illness was getting worse. I told him I was so sorry and he quickly responded with, “well we never know if it’ll be our last day either”. It was one of those poignant reminders that hits you right in the gut. These two were both living their day like it could be their last, having a blast at the beach and sharing their love for one another in paradise. What a beautiful way to live in this world. 🌊🌴🐾
