so we’re doing something about it.

The Annotation Library is now open. A circulating library where every book that leaves comes with an annotation kit, and every book that returns carries a little piece of whoever held it.

This month, we gather to celebrate, read, annotate, and talk about The Emperor of Gladness by @ocean_vuong

Annotating the book make us realise something that rarely notices when we only read the book without really dive into it. We share different perspectives, but its all leading to one same feelings—outgrown.

The feelings of needing to left some place that has been etched to the very body of ourself, because we know we don’t belong to that place anymore. But sadly, we can’t just left, so what we did is romanticise every thing in that place as a form of coping mechanism.

How beautiful it is to mediocre, to just live in mundane life.

Hi Friends! We wanted to invite you to the 1st ever Annotation Assembly!

The Annotation Club is a place where we can read, yap, and annotated our books. Whether you like to annotate your books or not; it doesn’t matter—because books are meant to be annotated, and we always have our own way to “annotates” it.

Back in May 2025, Ocean Vuong release, “The Emperor of Gladness”; hence we’d love to serve the first Annotation Assembly as a celebration for its birthday!

If you already read the book, or currently reading the book, or own the book (or ebook), or simply has the book on your reading list just come and celebrate! (p.s. owning the book is not required, but at least you have to read the book so we can yap together!)

This month event will be held at: Sunday, May 24th 2026 | 15:00-17:00 WIB | Taksu Book Cafe, Cilandak, South Jakarta

It’s a FREE Event (regist here: https://s.id/TAC-MayAssembly), but we’d love for everyone who signed up to actually show up—your spot matters!

Don’t forget to bring your journal, pen/pencil, or other thing you usually use for annotating and/or journaling, and see you at the assembly!

P. S. If you don’t own a copy of The Emperor of Gladness, Taksu Pustaka (part of Taksu Book Cafe) have one that can be borrow and read on-site! by @the.annotationlibrary
