The energy is IMMACULATE!! ✨

And the secret recipe to finding students you click with and stick with for years? Be picky and trust the goddamn process!!

Больше примеров👇

👕 HAND-ME-DOWNS

Вещи которые старшие дети передают младшим. Можно про одежду, игрушки, книги, вообще всё что передаётся в семье, но чаще всего про одежду.

Примеры:

• “All my clothes as a kid were hand-me-downs from my older brother — even my Halloween costumes.”
• “These toys are hand-me-downs from my cousin.”

🙋‍♀️ DIBS

Когда хочешь забрать что-то первым — переднее сиденье, последний кусок пиццы — говоришь “I call dibs!” или “Dibs!” И всё, это твоё. Можно сказать “call dibs,” “have first dibs,” “dibs on something.”

Примеры:

• “Dibs on the front seat!”
• “I call dibs on planning the party!”
• “She has first dibs on choosing the movie.”
• “I already called dibs on that parking spot.”

📞 CALL THE SHOTS

Когда кто-то реально главный и принимает все решения. Не просто босс на бумаге, а тот кто контролирует что происходит.

Примеры:

• “She’s the CEO, so she calls the shots around here.”
• “In this relationship, we both call the shots.”
• “He thinks he calls the shots, but we all know who’s really in charge.”

If you’re at a high level and feel like regular lessons have nothing left to offer you, this one’s for you.

Most of what you see in this video isn’t critical mistakes. A lot of it is slips, the kind of thing you’d catch yourself if you slowed down. Some of it is us just brainstorming, how else could we have said that, what sounds more natural, what’s the nuance between these two words. It’s less about being wrong and more about having a space to actually think about language at a deeper level.

This is what Teaching Unplugged (aka Dogme ELT) looks like in practice.

No rigid structure, no pre-planned exercises. Just real conversation, real language, real feedback in the moment. We take the English you already have and figure out how to make it sharper, more precise, more natural. The details that most people wouldn’t even notice but that make the difference between sounding good and sounding effortless.

A lot of my students are tutors themselves, people who already have an incredible level but want to keep growing and haven’t found anyone who can actually take them further from where they already are.

If that sounds like you, my DMs are open. 🤍 by @the.aushow

Here’s how we try to teach Ellie three languages at once at home. Some of it was intentional, some of it we just figured out along the way.

🪧 We follow the OPOL method, one parent one language.
I speak English with Ellie, my mom speaks Vietnamese, and George speaks Russian. But since George works all day and my mom and I are with her most of the time, the exposure isn’t exactly equal. And honestly the results show. She’s picking up English and Vietnamese faster than Russian right now, although she understands Russian really well and the moment George sits down to teach her something she picks it up almost immediately.

Here’s what actually helped us:

⭐ We started sign language really early and stayed consistent with it even when nothing seemed to be happening. No visible results for a while but we didn’t give up and eventually it clicked.

⭐ Around one year old we started playing Miss Rachel sometimes. She picked up so much from it. And since screen time isn’t really recommended at that age, I started copying Miss Rachel myself. Her tone, her cadence, the way she introduces words. I do that even when it’s just me and Ellie, and Ellie loves it.

⭐ Lots of repetition. Same words, same patterns, same songs. We sing a lot and she genuinely knows which songs she likes and already knows some of the lyrics.

⭐ We read together every day. She can point at things in a book and either say what they are or point and look at me waiting for me to say it.

⭐ Parentese!!! That slow, sing-songy, exaggerated way of talking to babies, actually works. I use it a lot and it keeps her engaged and helps her pick up on sounds faster.

The thing that blows my mind the most is that she already knows who speaks what. She’ll say “uống” to my mom when she wants a drink and “water” to me. 🤯

Same chaos, just different backdrop.
10/10 would recommend👌 by @the.aushow

Here’s how it works 👇

The lesson is split into two parts.

1️⃣The first 80% we just chat.
You talk, I listen and ask questions. Whatever’s on your mind, what’s been going on, a movie you watched, dating life, work, that thing that’s been stressing you out. Literally anything.

While we talk I’m quietly taking notes on the side. Words you used really well, words you were reaching for but couldn’t quite find, phrases I slipped into the conversation naturally that fit what you were saying.

2️⃣Then the last 20% is note time.
We go through what I wrote down, see if you caught the words I used, look at how they came up in context, maybe make an example or two.

It’s basically a space where you get to just talk, and leave with words that actually mean something to you because they came up in your own conversation.

❓Who usually comes to these lessons:

• people who have a lot to say and love to talk
• high level speakers who want to sound more polished and eloquent
• people who know what they mean but can’t always find the right words
• English teachers who want to keep their own English sharp
• anyone who doesn’t want their English getting rusty from not using it
