Ja, da hat er gerade gehört, wie ein Rollladen hochgezogen wurde 😂 Tatsächlich jedoch sind Katzen bei uns weiterhin ein riesiges Drama.
Seit ein paar Wochen schleicht immer wieder die gleiche Mieze durch unseren Garten weiter zum Nachbarn. Und gerade da liegt der Haken: Seitdem Hunter sie einmal vom Wintergarten aus gesehen hat, hat er sein neues Hobby gefunden - das Observieren, von mir liebevoll Obsessieren genannt. Seit neuestem sitzt er stundenlang im eisig kalten Wintergarten und starrt hinaus - lauernd, bis diese mehr oder weniger samtige Samtpfote endlich wieder aufkreuzt. Inzwischen haben wir ihm schon eine Decke ans Fenster gelegt, damit wenigstens sein Hintern nicht festfriert 😂
Wehe, wenn die Tür einmal verschlossen ist, dann sitzt Hunter eben vor ihr und schnauft oder stöhnt alle 2-3 Minuten auf 🙈 Tja, da hat er sich wohl sehr schlechtes Personal gesucht 🙄 ↣↣ ¥ ↢↢

555 - the magical number of posts which we have reached now. Over almost five years now, we have reached many different and interesting accounts, have experienced, shared and read many funny stories via IG and saw cute photos of Schnauzers and other dog breeds on a daily basis.
It’s something I don’t want to miss.
Furthermore, the number 5 is also celebrated twice this month as the February includes Hunter’s fifth "Gotcha Day". 2017 till now, he‘s overtaking a big part in my life - and couch - and I can‘t imagine one without him. ❤️

Hunter, der „Bub vom Land“. 🤣
Hunter ist inzwischen ein echtes Landei, was sich sogar darin zeigt, dass er auf den Spaziergängen Asphaltwege meidet und Feldwege vorzieht. Er ist allgemein kein Hund, der Freude daran hat, innerorts oder gar in der Stadt zu laufen ... zu wenige Hasen und Rehe, zu viele Autos und zu viel Beton. Es ist ihm schon zu viel, vom Auto ein Stück zu seiner Tierärztin zu laufen.
Deshalb nehme ich ihn gar nicht mehr mit, wenn es mal in die Stadt geht - das ist für ihn angenehmer und für mich stressfreier. Da stapfen wir lieber länger über die Felder, wenn ich zurück bin.
Sind eure Hunde Stadt- oder Dorfkinder?

Yes, you see right: We have cracked the 2000! Neither Hunter nor I would have expected to reach 2000 subscribers, readers, friends and just as Schnauzer-infected people within a year. Well - Hunter did probably 😅 After all, the little one is very convinced of himself.
Actually I planned a really perfect picture - Hunter's favorite trick and his nose should be parallel to the numbers. And the focus should also be on his eyes and not on his pig's nose. And it was actually thought that Hunter would look IN THE CAMERA! 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
But Hunter tore up the sheet and I didn't had time to print it again. Anyway, I think that such an imperfect, crazy picture fits this account much better 👌🏻.

Ja, ist denn schon Weihnachten? Das war so ziemlich Hunters Gedanke gestern. Er hat nämlich gestern drei Mal Katzenbesuch gehabt 😅 Zweimal war eine Scheibe dazwischen und er konnte seinen Frust nur durch Jammern kundtun - aber als wir nach Hause kamen und ich ihn im Garten abgeleint habe, war doch tatsächlich eine Samtpfote in unserem Garten! Wobei... so samtig war sie nicht wirklich drauf. Ehrlich - ich habe noch nie eine Katze so fauchen und einen Buckel machen sehen. Aber als Hunter dann auf sie zugerast ist, ist sie wie ein Wirbelwind durch den Zaun verschwunden. Ich habe mich gewundert, dass sie nicht abgehoben ist 😂
Wenigstens gab es keine direkte Auseinandersetzung zwischen den beiden - ich glaube, da hätte Hunter den Kürzeren gezogen (aber sagt es ihm nicht) 😉❤️

My baby is becoming a grandpa 🥹
Yes, I’m already calling him my little grumpy grandpa…

Can anyone really believe he’s already turning 11? He would definitely disagree with that number.

Here’s to many more years of mice hunting, bicycle barking, train catching and mountain running~ 🐾

10 Years of Hunter (and Counting 🖤🐾)

2017 — From “Schröder” to Hunter. 16 months old, shaking on the drive home, asleep in my lap five minutes later. First photo: tiny basket, wooden toy, big eyes.

2018 — The T-Rex era. Destroyed three leashes. Ran away. Five trainers. Many tears. Best advice we ever got: some dogs take years to find common ground. Be patient.

2019 — Still feral. Still unstoppable. Also the biggest clown. Life before Hunter? Can’t remember her.

2020 — Graduation, lockdown… and Hunter catching ten mice in the vineyards like it was his full-time job.

2021 — Loss. He searched for his best friend. Then slowly found comfort again — in other dogs and couch cuddles.

2022 — Long walks in every season. Fewer chaos moments. More tricks (mostly performed for extra treats).

2023 — Big move. New territory. Vineyards at his doorstep. Professional stranger-barker activated.

2024 — Deer, rabbits, trains in the valley below. Watching the world like it belongs to him (because it does).

2025 — 10 years old. Three surgeries. Two tumors gone. One claw less. Zero drama. Absolute warrior.

2026 — A little softer. A little cuddlier. Still offended if anyone says “grandpa.” Not a puppy anymore — but he’ll out-run yours.

To ten years of chaos, loyalty, vineyards, and the best decision we ever made.
And we’re not done yet. 🐾 by @the.bearded.hunter

This Christmas feels a little different for us.
This year reminded me how fragile time really is. Hunter turned 10, went through cancer, and bravely handled three surgeries under full anesthesia. There were moments filled with worry, waiting, and holding my breath.
And now… he’s here. Recovered, happy, running around like a puppy again — just a little more clingy, a little more attached, and snoring very loudly in his sleep ㅎㅎ
A soft reminder that love changes shape, but never fades.
So this Christmas, I’m especially grateful. For health. For second chances. For quiet moments, warm walks, and a dog who chooses to stay close.
Merry Christmas everyone 🎄
I hope you can enjoy the holidays in whatever way is tradition in your country and family. Eat lots of delicious food (plus treats for the four-legged members), make memories, and take care of what matters most — because time really is the most precious gift.

Merry Christmas everyone!!
I hope you all can enjoy the holidays in whatever way it is tradition in your country and family. Please eat lots of delicious food (plus treats for the 4legged members) and get some nice gifts! But most of all: Make good memories. Because time is the most precious gift.

Did you survive Howloween? 🐺
It still feels a bit spooky here because the fog thaz has arrived at the beginning of this week is still our persistent guest. On today’s walk, it was so foggy that I regularly had to check if we were still on the right track! Even location detection of my phone was confused 🙉
As a result, we once took the wrong route and so our walk was a little bit longer than expected. This plus the change to the winter time has brought me into a true autumn spooky mood 👻

Keine Klingelstreiche, dafür aber Begegnungen mit Freunden 🙇🏼‍♀️
Tatsächlich war es dieses Jahr an Halloween sehr ruhig. Niemand hat bei uns geklingelt, um nach Süßem oder Saurem zu fragen. Hunter war nicht traurig darüber 😂 Er und die Türklingel sind nicht die größten Freunde. Dafür hat er dann eben ein Leckerli am Ende des Tages bekommen.
Statt Kindern sind wir beim Rausgehen dafür zwei anderen Hunden aus der Nachbarschaft begegnet. Die drei haben sich (ungelogen) beim Sehen in einem Dreieck auf den Boden gesetzt, keinen Mucks gemacht. Das Schwanzwedeln war da erleichternd, ansonsten hätte ich das Gefühl gehabt, einer Hexenversammlung beizuwohnen. 🙉

The birthday boy 🎉
I can‘t believe it‘s been 9 years since this old man entered this world and more than 7 years since he‘s bringing chaos into my life. It feels like he‘s been here forever and at the same time, I think I just brought him home last week.
It wasn’t easy (especially at the beginning), but always fun and full of laughter. I‘m glad Hunter isn’t as wild and untamable as during his teenage years. But I‘m relieved he‘s still full of energy and ready to run kilometer after kilometer with me. This grandfather is still hip with the kids 😎
Nevertheless, sometimes time comes and knocks on the door. He has two swellings on his body (vet + laboraty examined them, not harmful). It reminds me of a family dog that got it as well when he was old. Furthermore, Hunter has started to snore rather loudly which he hasn’t done as a pup. It’s a reminder to cherish every single day that I have with him.

Recovered from a paw injury 🥲
Hunter had to wear a bandage for the past week but today, it‘s the first day that he can walk freely again. And he noticeably enjoyed it! He was running and jumping around despite the hot sunshine. Now he‘s ready for the super long walks again 🏃‍♀️

Ja, das war so eine Geschichte 🙉
Hunter hat plötzlich angefangen, seine Pfote ständig zu lecken. Erst beim 3. Prüfen haben wir eine Ähre gefunden, die er sich zwischen den Ballen eingefangen hatte. Nachdem wir diese entfernt hatten, hat er weitergeleckt. Ich habe angenommen, dass es daran lag, dass die Ähre eine kleine Wunde hinterlassen hatte. Aber auch am nächsten Tag hat er nicht aufgehört, sodass sich die Pfote an der Stelle leicht entzündet hat. Deshalb musste ich die Pfote zubinden. Doch auch nach 3 Tagen wurde es nicht besser. Der Tierarzt hat uns Zinksalbe empfohlen. Der erste Tag hat keine Besserung gebracht. Am 5. Tag habe ich dann das Gefühl gehabt, ein merkwürdiges Stück fehl unter meiner Fingerkuppe zu spüren… da hat sich herausgestellt, dass eine weitere Ähre an dieser Stelle fast komplett unterhalb der Haut gesteckt hat. Nach dem Entfernen war die Wunde nach einem Tag verheilt 😂
Hunter hat das Ganze übrigens sehr gut ertragen und kein einziges Mal gefiept, geknurrt, o.ä. Dafür gab‘s ein großes Leckerli ☺️

It‘s getting hot in here 🔥☀️
Who has enough courage to tell Hunter that it‘ll get hotter than 20/25 Celsius degrees during the summer? 😭 I don’t have the heart to tell him so…
He‘s already suffering and I feel so sorry for him. We go early/late, I take water with me and we make breaks in the shadows. But his fur still heats up and it’s a Tongueout-Tuesday every day. Please show some empathy for the „poor Hunter“ (not for me obviously, I can suffer in silence 😭😂)

Der ganz normale Wahnsinn mit Schnauzer … das dachte ich mir, als ich gestern nach Hause kam. Hunter hat immer ein Kissen in seinem Körbchen, das er immer mit sich schleppt und durch die Luft schleudert. Gestern hat er es dann geschafft, den Saum aufzureißen. Danach gab es natürlich kein Halten mehr: Das Kissen wurde fachmännisch auseinandergenommen und filetiert.
Ich habe die Innereien erst einmal zusammengesammelt und sie wieder ins Kissen gestopft. Doch bevor ich es zunähen konnte, hatte Hunter das Kissen schon wieder zwischen den Zähnen und das Ganze ging von vorne 😂😂
Danke, Hunter, dass du dafür sorgst, dass es mir nie langweilig wird

King of the vineyards 👑
Whenever there’s a hill or a minor, higher object, Hunter has to climb up and look over „his“ land. 😆 Is this some sort of superior God complex? Do I have to consult a doctor with him? Or is it normal?

Trampeltier Hunter 😂
Eines muss ich Hunter lassen: Er sorgt immer dafür, dass in seinem Zuhause nichts auf dem Boden rumsteht und alles aufgeräumt ist. Denn er läuft grundsätzlich immer in alles hinein, was da nicht hingehört.
Ein Paket wurde geliefert und ich stelle es kurz auf dem Boden ab, um eine Schere zu holen. Ja ratet mal, wer voll hineingelaufen ist und es durch den halben Raum geworfen hat? 😆 Also ich war es nicht… Behälter mit Flüssigkeit sind natürlich besonders gefährlich … Wassereimer sind schon ärgerlich genug, aber so ein randvoller Farbeimer … das macht Freude 🙉
