WHO SAID BIRTHING IN HOSPITAL MEANS STAYING IN BED?! 🤰💜

Somewhere along the way, we’ve normalised the idea that when a woman arrives at hospital in labour, she gets into bed and stays there until her baby is born.

But here’s something every pregnant woman deserves to know…

Your freedom to move during labour matters!

Your pelvis isn’t a fixed structure. Different positions change the relationship between your pelvis, sacrum and tailbone, potentially creating more space for your baby to navigate their way through.

And research suggests that upright and mobile labour positions can offer benefits for comfort, coping and labour progress.

So why limit yourself to the bed?

Meet The Birth Sling®!

Created by an Osteopath, Birth Doula and Educator, The Birth Sling is a portable birth support tool designed to help you:

🌸 Stay upright and active throughout labour.

🌸 Lean, sway, kneel and explore supported squatting positions.

🌸 Take some of the load off your legs and lower back during contractions.

🌸 Explore positions that allow your sacrum and tailbone to move more freely.

🌸 Give your birth partner a break from physically supporting your weight.

And yes, you can use The Birth Sling in hospital! With a suitable, approved attachment point, you can bring the benefits of supported movement into your hospital birth space.

Even if your birth involves monitoring or an epidural, there may still be opportunities to change positions with support from your care team.

Because choosing to birth in hospital doesn’t mean giving up your freedom to move.

Your birth. Your body. Your movement. 💜

Discover The Birth Sling® and explore a different way to prepare for labour and birth. by @the.birth.sling

I absolutely LOVE seeing Witney Carson still burning up the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars, FIVE months pregnant! 🔥🤰💃

And I love even more that a major television network is celebrating and supporting her through it!

As a former professional dancer, I remember genuinely believing that falling pregnant would mean the end of my dancing career.

But after having my first daughter, I was blown away by what my body was capable of. I felt strong, fit and honestly, I was in some of the best shape of my life!

It made me realise that motherhood didn’t have to mean the end of dancing at all.

Of course, my career took a different direction and now I’m DEEP in the wonderful world of pregnancy and birth. 😂

But seeing Witney out there doing what she loves, with her beautiful growing belly, makes me SO happy.

Pregnancy is not a disease. It’s not automatically a reason to stop moving, exercising or doing the things you love.

Every pregnancy is different, but for women with uncomplicated pregnancies, continuing the activities they’re accustomed to can be absolutely wonderful.

MORE OF THIS PLEASE! 👏❤️

Let’s celebrate strong, active pregnant women and stop treating pregnancy like a medical condition in itself.

They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.

I’m not sure I agree. 😂

Because when you create something you believe in so deeply, sometimes you work harder than you ever have before.

And that’s exactly where I am right now.

I have SO much passion, inspiration and motivation to share The Birth Sling with the world. Not because I want to sell more products, but because I genuinely believe in what I’ve created and I want more women to know what’s possible when they’re supported to move, trust their bodies and explore their options in birth.

But I’m also deep in my motherhood season. Raising two little girls who need their mama, while trying to grow a business that feels so much bigger than me.

And some days, juggling those two worlds feels almost impossible.

There are late nights, unfinished to do lists, ideas I can’t find the time to bring to life and a constant feeling that there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

But there’s also so much joy in it all.

Because I love being their mama. And I love this work. And I don’t want to have to choose between the two.

So I’ll keep showing up, even if it’s a little messy. Even if it’s slower than I’d like. Even if most of the work happens after bedtime.

Because I know why I started.

And if I can help even one more woman feel informed, supported and confident in her birth choices, then this work means something. ❤️

Here’s to all the mamas raising babies while trying to bring their big ideas into the world. It’s a lot, isn’t it? 🥹

Prepping and preparing your body for an all natural unmediated birth comes in many forms…

•Using the Birth Sling for stretching and preparing your pelvic area, body & baby for labor
•Hiring a Doula
•Using a Yoga/Birth Ball Daily
•Deep breathing techniques
•Praying
•Singing worship music
•Stretching
•Hydrating with electrolytes
•Drinking red raspberry leaf tea
•Eating dates
•Taking evening primrose oil
•Walking
•Taking naps
•Getting enough sleep
•Chiropractic care with a Webster certified chiropractor
•Making a safe, calm, peaceful space to labor at home so your body, pelvic area, uterus & baby can fully relax and do what it needs to do

•••

How many weeks are you and what are you doing to prepare your body & mind for labor?

Are you laboring at home first?

Did you hire a Doula?

When is your due date?

I have been enjoying my birth sling, highly recommend ordering one for laboring and birth prep whether that be at home, birth center or hospital. 🫶🏻

Real birth story reshare by @greenvillebirth

Happiest first year to this repeat client! After we did all the things to try to turn this breech baby, it only took Dr. Ragonetti 60 seconds to perform an ECV. I actually thought she was joking when she announced baby was head down. 😎

And then we did all the things to bring baby girl earthside. Castor oil, pitocin, flying cowgirl, side-lying release, belly lifts, rinse and repeat.

This one made her parents work!

And after 24 hours, baby number three was welcomed into her dad’s hands.

Sometimes labor looks soft and quiet.
Sometimes it looks like grabbing on, leaning in, and letting your whole body do the work.

Birth doesn’t need to look graceful.
Get loud. Get low. Get in the water. Hang from the ceiling if that’s what gets you through the next contraction.

Your body gets to take up space here.
