I honestly thought I was going to finish this month without finishing a single book. It only takes one good book to get out of a #readingslump and for me it was Renan Bernardo's latest book that jumpstarted my interest in reading again! That said, I did most of my reading in the last week of April. I was delighted to finally finish The City of Ember series, though extremely surprised how relevant it feels to the current political climate. I may climb out of my booktube hiatus in order to cover my larger thoughts on it. I didn't realize until the author's note that Sun-Daughters, Sea-Daughters is a little mermaid retelling lol! I think calling it a retelling undermines the creativity in this space opera novella. I'm always a sucker for humans so evolved to the point that they feel alien!

This #marchwrapup I did something I told myself I'd never do and reread "City of Ember" a book that meant so much to me as a kid I was afraid it wouldn't hold up as an adult. Fortunately it did and I even finally read the sequel! (and will read book 3 and 4 when I can procure copies) "Human Scars on Planet Skin" was an ARC I will do a separate post for. "Girls Can Kiss Now" catfished me by calling itself an essay collection when it was memoir (still relatable though). "American Scary" is def one of the top #nonfictionbooks I've read this year during an already strong reading year. If you have any interest in the genre of horror, I highly recommend reading it. by @the.book.wormhole
