Taquila is celebrating their birthday, and for the occasion is practically giving away their tacos for as little as €1 each - figured now was the perfect time to try it out.

First of all, maybe I’ve just never had proper Tortilla Chips (admittedly this might be my first time in a Mexican restaurant) but these sort of blew my mind?? So good. Didn’t realise they came with a little selection of salsas and chimichurri so was very pleasantly surprised. Now I quite stupidly let the lovely staff take the dips away before the next course, but next time definitely keeping to have with the tacos!

The main event - the tacos. Really really happy with these, so tasty! Funnily enough while the filling is obviously delicious, I remember thinking to myself how good the little tortillas are. So maybe I’m missing the point altogether. In any case I’m more than satisfied.

Now I happen to be abstaining at the moment, but couldn’t help but notice that their cocktail menu looked really good. So there’s that as well.

I visit Sweden at least once a month and last time I was around this was my ultimate craving and my very first stop - easily one of my top 5 in Helsingborg, you won’t find a better poke bowl!!!

I love being able to choose between a few different types of rice and noodles for the base, here I went for noodles. Always SO generous with the toppings (including the fish) - even when ordering it for takeaway. Admittedly was sceptical to try this as it seemed like it would be all hype and no substance but I was so wrong.

I’ve put my mother on this, I’ve told my friends, I’ve told my nail lady, and now I’m telling you. So good. by @the.crumb.edit

This seems to have been the first stop in quite an extensive London bakery crawl this summer - three or so months after the fact I will attempt to recall and tell you my thoughts.

I got two items at £6 and £6.5 respectively - this may be where I am losing the plot because I briefly caught myself thinking ‘that’s not bad’ when I went back to look. I suppose if one subtracts the mandatory ‘went viral on Instagram’ and ‘Portobello Rd’ surcharges, this really is quite reasonable. (I am aware this isn’t even near the worst of London pricing)

Overall though I actually think this is class if you fancy a sweet treat that isn’t overly sweet - one for the distinguished palette if you will. I remember the Pistachio Pain Suisse using really quite rich dark chocolate (tasted expensive even in the pastry) which cut really nicely through the usual sweetness of such pastries.

The cherry one was the main event for me, and while certainly rich it once again pleasantly surprised me with the balance of sweet and tart flavours. Probably don’t even have to tell you the lamination and texture on both of these was class.

Overall I do actually recommend if in the area - quite an interesting selection, I’d love to have been around for their more autumnal bakes! by @the.crumb.edit

Probably the most praised burger place in Sweden so expectations were high to begin with - considering this is now a family must visit every time we’re in the area I’d say they were met.

Now as I mention it is incredibly poor of me to not even remember what I’ve ordered here but I’ve now sampled 3 burgers and they’re all good. What blows me away more than the burgers themselves is perhaps the pricing - their lunch deals let these go with fries and a drink for 99kr, which is less than 10 euro!!!

Will be going back again and again - worth all the hype they get.

Laying in bed as I’m typing this up and thinking about this burger much like one would think of a long lost love by @the.crumb.edit

This is now one of those spots I take friends and people who are visiting to impress them with my niche and objectively amazing restaurant finds.

Everyone loves the quintessential kebab on their way home from a night out - this is the one for when you went out for a ‘nice’ multiple course dinner, you’re a few glasses of wine deep and still starving. Like a really sophisticated bossman.

The menu is small but well executed - we tried a bowl, roll and pizza and can confidently say everything on this menu is a winner.

I repeat - the picture doesn’t do the size of the portion justice.

The dips were actually fab, wish I had a vessel such as bread or fries to steal a bit more of it off my mate

This was my pick - absolutely no notes. Came out incredibly hot, I am prepared to say their dough is the best in the city.

Sometimes you have to take a questionable picture of the food and just keep it moving.

The sweetness of the mango in this is a work of genius by @the.crumb.edit

First and foremost I may be biased because the hype was REAL for me - I’d been waiting for a good opportunity to try the strawberry cruffin thing all month and never got around to it, but ended up biting the bullet last weekend as they’re only a seasonal thing.

Naturally it was phenomenal, the texture of the pastry was perfect and in my opinion the amount of filling was spot on - I am usually of the unpopular opinion that less is more when it comes to custards and jams and this definitely delivered. Texture wise also perfect, with a flakey sort of outside and a little bit of softness/doughy-ness on the inside which I love.

However, the unexpected winner for me was the cinnamon croissant roll - another controversial take of mine is that more often than not, the conventional Swedish cinnamon roll or kanelbulle is somewhat underwhelming regardless of how well executed it is, and is most definitely NOT a summer pastry… this on the other hand, is definitely a summer pastry (as well as a spring, autumn and winter pastry). Great amount of actually cinnamon-y filling, sticky in all the right ways and all the delightful qualities of a croissant.

I’ve visited here a couple times now and it’s quickly become my absolute favourite in the city - if you ever find yourself in the city (not sure why you would) this is the must visit.

Can’t help but feel my full time job should just be ‘summer’ ☀️

But actually it was one of the best days I’ve had in recent memory, maybe I’m just a miserable git but these were the things I appreciated that little bit extra/how I made the day better for myself. Really quite convinced nobody does self care like me x

I’ve severely neglected this account but consider this a mini revival with me posting about a weekday lunch I had the other week!

BAM Sushi is the perfect lunch spot, with a great lunch deal (95kr for the sushi, miso and water!) and excellent tasting food - the portion was generous and I left there eager to come back another time :)

Really charming little restaurant, no notes!

After a brief hiatus I am back to posting! I was blanking on what to post but I realised that despite living in the area for a very long time I am not familiar with the restaurants in the slightest - really strong start to my local food tour at Soho No.5. At a point when I was incredibly bored of the standard Swedish/Thai takeaway this surprised me in a really pleasant way.

The bento box was a great portion and lovely, everything from the chicken to the gyozas to the sushi were well made and delicious. To me the real star of the show was the Vietnamese Beef Salad, which had the most amazing broth and perfectly paired veggies. Still thinking about it a few days later and will most definitely be back for more! The restaurant itself is so cosy and the presentation leaves little to be desired.

Highly recommend to anyone in Helsingborg who’s bored of the ‘usual.’ Great food in a relaxed atmosphere with a menu that is exciting but not overwhelming. Such a great find!
