I am honored and very excited to be hosting Finance Friday with the Finance Club for the next two months 💸

The Finance Club is the brainchild of @lauradeetman who has created a space for women to build their wealth and wellbeing and connect with other amazing women who are on the road to their financial freedom.

This month we will be exploring Revenue Generation and Income Planning to set the stage for a profitable year in 2026.

When I work with clients we explore currency beyond just money.

The Currency Project was created with the idea that money is NOT our only and most valuable form of currency.

Time and Energy are internal currencies - finite, invaluable, and often spent without much thought. Unlike money, we can’t earn more hours in our day or top up our energy with a quick deposit in the bank.

Recognizing the value of these intangible currencies can change how make decisions — in business, relationships, and our everyday lives.

As this new chapter unfolds, I feel called and very excited to share the story behind it - the quiet unraveling, the unexpected turns and the deep remembering of what truly matters. The Currency Project was born from my journey, and I’m honored to share it with you!

After more than a decade working in NYC’s fast-paced finance world, I found myself hitting a wall. On paper, I was thriving. The next step - becoming CFO at a hedge fund was the ultimate win for my 13 yr career. But deep down, I was burnt out, unfulfilled, and craving something that couldn’t be measured in promotions or bonuses. I started to ask myself: Is this really the life I want?

I was becoming increasingly skeptical about the world I was helping to build - one that prioritized growth and profit over long-term stability and shared values.

So in 2017, I made a decision that felt both challenging and deeply right - I chose to step away. It was a turning point that brought fear, freedom, and a renewed sense of direction.

As an act of deep self-care, a year later, my partner at the time and I left NYC and booked a one-way ticket to Thailand. What was meant to be a one-year sabbatical turned into a full redesign of my life. I spent a year in Thailand, moved to Portugal, and eventually made Lisbon home base.

In 2019, I launched The Beryl Company, a consultancy that brings CFO expertise to small businesses and entrepreneurs. I help my clients make strategic financial decisions aligned not just with their spreadsheets, but with their intuition and values.

Then 2 years ago, another turning point arrived: a difficult divorce forced me to confront my own financial story with fresh eyes. After years of distancing myself from the world of wealth to rediscover my values, I realized I didn’t have to reject money to live in integrity. I could reclaim it - and redefine it on my own terms.

With The Currency Project, I am diving deeper into the often-unspoken layers of our relationship with money: emotions, power, identity, and worth.
