A little mystical dramaturgy to prepare you for our concert💀

Join us at Death on the Hills as our cortège of choristers at The Great Hall on November 1 to ask a question the living cannot answer: what happens when we die? Witches, friars, hermits, and heathens convene to contemplate what lies beyond the veil, through the immortal works of such composers as Elgar, Verdi, Clarke, Barber, and Britten.

In a space out of space, a time out of time, three seers meet at a crossroads under a waxing moon. Their paths are marked by loneliness and yet, they are together, evoking ancient archetypes to tend the unseen.

One of these three is The Hermit, sung into being by Daevyd Pepper, a Dora Award-winning Toronto-based vocalist and ritualist who creates transformative experiences through music, theatre, and tarot. Their repertoire spans art song, opera, choral, and contemporary music, with a particular passion for Canadian composers; They have premiered and workshopped works by John Estacio, Danika Lorèn, Andrew Balfour, and others. A proud self-producer, Daevyd moves fluidly between performer, director, dramaturg, and curator. They are Co-Founder of Opera InReach, a collective increasing the civic impact of opera and mentoring the next generation of classical singers. Having lived with the tarot for over 20 years, Daevyd now performs readings in their musical work and programming.

Daevyd has curated the music of The Hermit, asking questions of loneliness and belonging, and will also guide us through a collective tarot reading!

And I have the perfect way for you to celebrate 🍷🃏

Folks, @thingsmjsees, @lauren_estey_jovanovic , the folks of @operabytheglass and I have crafted something quite special for you : As the Sky Turns🪄

For most of human history, people have turned to their wise ones and witches for guidance, healing, connection, and direction through the unknown. This concert honours our psychics, cunning folk, mystics, and mages; reclaiming the psychic experience we so often label as supernatural, madness or fantasy as deeply human.

On top of a carefully curated selection of wines and songs, this concert features a tarot reading by yours truly (done in a way you may have never experienced before). If you have a question burning in your heart, one that is too heavy, too complex, too prickly for ordinary means of answering, bring it and we’ll explore it with music and magic.

🎟️Ticket are $40(concert only) or $80 (wine service included) link in bio!

I hope to see ya there ✌️
