🎬✨From Weekend Styling to the Big Screen!

In 2010, I stepped into the world of fashion styling—juggling my 9–5 by day and styling on weekends. By 2014, I landed my first gig on a film set as Lead Costume Designer/Wardrobe Stylist, and I’ve been grinding ever since.

Over the last 10+ years, my costume design journey has taken me across platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Ebonylife TV, Africa Magic, Accelerate TV, Startimes, YouTube, numerous festivals and now—
FINALLY—a CINEMA RELEASE! 🎉

I’m beyond proud to share that my work will debut on the big screen in 🎥 THE SHADOW OF GREED, hitting cinemas June 20, 2025.

This project marks a milestone—one full of growth, grace, and gratitude.

Oluwaseun, well done.👏🏾
Thank you, Father! 🙏🏾

Sometimes, you have to make the first move. 🎬✨

A little reminder that you don’t always have to wait for the phone call, the WhatsApp message, or someone to remember you exist. Sometimes, you have to take the bull by the horns and introduce yourself.

This project with @directoruche was my first time working with him, but how did it happen?

I reached out. Introduced myself. Told him what I do. He responded so warmly, and I left it at that, fingers crossed. 😂 There wasn’t a project on the table at the time, just an introduction and the hope that something might come out of it someday.

Then, some time later, my phone buzzed. And here we are! 🥹❤️ working together on the Nature’s Gentle Touch @naturesgentletouch TVC.

And this is why I’m sharing this.

Even with over a decade of experience in this industry, I’m learning that you’re never too experienced to put yourself out there. You don’t outgrow the need to introduce yourself, build relationships, follow up, or make that first move.

The yeses won’t come every time. Some messages won’t get a response. Some introductions might not even lead anywhere immediately. And that’s okay. You still have to put yourself in the room, even when nobody has invited you in yet.

I’m still pushing. Still reaching out. Still figuring things out. Still creating opportunities for myself, one conversation at a time. So, if you’ve been waiting for someone to call, please, take this as your sign to make that call yourself. Send that email. Send that DM. Introduce yourself. You never know what might come of it. Don’t just wait to be discovered. Put yourself out there. I’m doing the same. 🥂🎬

A big thank you to Director Uche for having me on board, and to the producer @khuddie23 for being such a consummate professional and a wonderful crew person. I appreciate the opportunity and the experience. ❤️

Now, onto the next! Here’s to more collaborations, more beautiful stories, and more opportunities to do what I love.

Let’s work! 🤝🏾

THROWBACK THURSDAY! 🎬✨ Taking it back to the Stanbic IBTC @stanbicibtc The Good Life campaign, four years ago!

Ahhh, memory lane! 🥹❤️

This was one of those projects that really pushed me creatively. My first commercial to challenge me in this particular way, working with two veteran stars and one of the new generation’s standouts, an incredible cast of dancers, and what I remember being a pretty tight turnaround to pull everything together.

From the creative direction to bringing the looks to life, it was a whole experience. The kind of project that stretches you, teaches you, and reminds you why you love what you do.

A special shout-out to @adetokeoluwo and SGTC Clothing @sgtcclothing for coming through with ALL the pieces for the runway scenes. Forever appreciated 🙏🏾

Thank you @joshamor.official for Ric’s amazing suit.

Thank you to my team 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Four years later, looking back at the work and remembering everything that went into it? What a beautiful reminder of how far the journey goes.

Here’s to the projects that challenge us, the people who show up for us, and the beautiful things we get to create together. 🥂✨

Let’s work! 🤝🏾

First things first, congratulations to Ayra Starr! 🇳🇬🌍❤️

What a feat! Taking Nigerian music to a global stage and making history with an NFL halftime show is no small achievement. We celebrate that. Absolutely!

Now, let’s talk about the FASHION, because I have thoughts. 👀

I caught a clip of Ayra’s interview with NFL ahead of the performance, where she was asked about what she would be wearing. Her reference to a John Galliano-era Dior look caught my attention, and I remember thinking, Really? This is the direction we’re going?

And before anyone comes for me, please, let me explain. 😂

My concern isn’t that she referenced a Western designer. Fashion is global. Inspiration is global. And nobody owes us a traditional outfit simply because they’re African BUT context matters, and so does the opportunity.

This was a history-making moment. An African artist, a Nigerian woman, taking Afrobeats to a major international sporting platform. A moment that would have eyes on her, her music, her performance, and, inevitably, her clothes, and I couldn’t help wondering: was there no way to bring a stronger sense of Nigerian or African identity into that fashion moment? This is where the conversation gets even more interesting to me.

Ayra’s Starrgirl album campaign distinctly features a statement purple gele at the center of it. So, naturally, I found myself asking: how did that visual language translate to this particular history-making performance? The purple was present in the eventual NFL look, yes, but what about the distinctive gele reference and the cultural storytelling behind it? Could that have, at the least, been reimagined for the performance? Could the hair, accessories, silhouette, or some other styling detail have carried that conversation forward? There was already a visual story to draw from.

THAT is the kind of fashion noise that should have been made! 🔥

Key Costumer and Wardrobe Manager for Nigeria’s official submission to the 2027 Oscars! 🙋🏾‍♀️🇳🇬🎬🏆

WHAT. A. FEAT! 😭❤️

Now, let’s be clear: an official submission isn’t an automatic Oscar nomination. We know that. BUT COME ON!!! Do you understand how special it is to be part of the village behind a film that has made it this far?

Kinda chic, if you ask me. 😂✨

As someone who lives and breathes costume, character, and storytelling, being part of this project will always hold a special place in my books. To have contributed to the world of DEAR AJAYI as Key Costumer and Wardrobe Manager is something I’ll never take for granted.

And beyond my own little corner of this beautiful production, I’m just so proud of the entire village that came together to make this work of art. Every department, every creative decision, every hand that helped bring this story to life. LOOK AT WHAT WE MADE! 😭❤️

Dear Ajayi, take ALL your flowers. 💐💐💐

This is sure bigger than a personal credit. It’s a beautiful reminder of what our stories, our people, and our collective creativity can do.

Lead actor @wilsimben has a message for you.

I start with the character, because wardrobe isn’t just about what looks good. It’s about understanding who the person is, where they come from, what they do, how they see themselves and what their world looks like.

Once you understand the character, the costumes (clothes) begin to tell the story.

OH MY GOD!!! 😭😭😭

This is WILD! Oh my God! Oh my God! This can’t be happening. This is SO REAL. 😭

DEAR AJAYI is Nigeria’s Official Submission for the 99th Academy Awards — Best International Feature Film! 🇳🇬🏆🎬

I genuinely have no words. NONE.

Glory be to God. Glory be to You, Lord. 🙏🏾 For alignment. For divine alignment.

Being the KEY COSTUMER on this project will always, always, always be one of my top experiences as a filmmaker.

I keep thinking about the journey. The work. The people. The long days. The creative conversations. The little details. The beautiful chaos of bringing a story to life. And now… THE OSCARS?! 😭😭😭

What an honour to have been part of this. What an honour to have dressed and managed the wardrobe of this beautiful, iconic ensemble cast. What an honour to have been part of this village.

Dami @damiorimogunje, you created something special. And now the world gets to see just how special it is. Thank you for having me be a part of your village.

Ajah @ajahenene, it was so refreshing experiencing you as our department lead and Costume Designer. To many more power stories 🥂

Dear Ajayi, look at you!!! 😭❤️
