Canopy Setup on our Ford Ranger for a family of 4 travelling Australia Full-Time 🇦🇺

Before leaving Sydney for our big lap of Aus we met with the team from @pctaoffroad to chat about the ideal setup - FOR US! 👌🏼

Not what was trending, or looked the best but what would be most practical for our family. 💯

I knew that I really wanted a large area of empty “boot” space to store all the day to day stuff in - groceries, kids toys, beach stuff… you name it… 🚗

We also wanted practicality - will we use these items everyday? Will they last long-term? 🤔

Another huge thing was ROOF RATING - what canopy is rated to hold our tinny setup? 🚤

After weeks of planning and guidance from the team this is what we ended up with:

@alucab_australia Canopy with Kitchen Kit + 270 degree awning - canopy roof rating of 200kg dynamic and 400kg static - Kitchen kit for meals on the go when we are not towing the van + 270 degree for extra shade plus helps protect the fridge from the sun.

@newayworks_australia Premium Drawer System with built in @evakoolaustralia 40L fridge slide - we are actually the FIRST people in Australia to run the Evakool fridge with the Newayworks Drawers - our feedback: we’ve played around with a lot of fridge slide setups and NOTHING has come even close to the quality of the Newayworks drawers. Drawers glide so smoothly and effortlessly due to the incredible strength of these Australian designed and engineered builds. We have loaded the drawer with a heap of tools as each drawer can hold up to 150kgs 🔥

@bluetti_australia has been powering the fridge - and random 240v items along the way. We love its portable and can be used for more than “just the car”

We are 7 weeks into our trip and so far we’ve been stoked with the setup.

If I could change anything it would be to add a slide on top of the drawer system to make accessing things in the rear a little easier - might be something we look into 👀

What would you change/ add if you were travelling with your family?

This is what day 1 of “back to school” looks like for us 🤎📚
Schoolwork ticked off by lunch ✔️ then a little afternoon wander along the boardwalk at Point Danger 👀
Cloudy and misty one today ☁️ finished off with lattes at the Black Dingo Cafe ☕️🤍

Anyone else back into school routines today? ✏️

Brb crying 😭😭

We left Sydney just over 4 months ago, but somehow found ourselves back for a month… for the 4WD show, some work, and to spend some precious time with our friends and family one last time before we head off for good ❤️‍🩹

And by “for good”, I don’t mean a “see you in 12 months” kind of trip… this time, it could potentially be forever 🥺

That’s a LOT to process, but we made the absolute most of every second 🤍

Family means the absolute world to me, and being able to spend this time with our nearest and dearest has been so wholesome, so special… and honestly, incredibly heartbreaking too ❤️‍🩹

There’s something about knowing it might be the last time that makes these moments feel so much more… special

But now, it’s time for the next chapter ✨ the unknown, the adventure, the dreams we’ve been brave enough to chase…

I couldn’t be more excited or more proud of the 4 of us 🥹 for choosing to step outside what’s familiar, follow our dreams and live this life to the absolute fullest 🤍

PENRITH - you’ll always have a piece of my heart 💓

Until we meet again XOXO ✨🫶🏼

There’s a lot that goes into getting a vehicle ready for a trip like ours and having the right people behind you makes all the difference 🛠️

From building our Ranger for our BIG lap around Australia, to keeping it running smoothly ever since, the team at @penrithcitytyresandauto have looked after us every step of the way.

It’s not just the quality of the work either.. it’s the communication, the advice and knowing you can trust the people working on your vehicle 👌🏼

So when we say we wouldn’t choose anywhere else… we genuinely mean it 🤍

If you’re in the Penrith area and looking for a team to look after your 4WD, go check them out and see for yourself. 👌🏼
