4 myths about ISO 9001 that don't get talked about enough.

1. You don't need a dedicated quality manager.
2. Audits aren't about catching people out.
3. The standard doesn't tell you what to do.
4. It's not outdated - it's getting smarter.

> Swipe through to see what's actually true.

Most people think ISO 9001 is just a compliance exercise. A box to tick so you can win a contract or keep a big client happy.

It's actually built on 7 principles - and when you understand them, the whole standard starts to make a lot more sense.

Swipe through for plain English explanations of each one, and what they actually mean for a small business trying to get its systems in order.

If any of it resonates, feel free to drop a question in the comments or send me a message.

ISO 9001 is about to get its first major update since 2015, and the direction of travel is genuinely exciting.

The Final Draft International Standard is expected to be published this month - May 2026 - with the full standard expected September 2026.

Organisations will then have three years to transition, placing the deadline at September 2029.

Quality management that drives your business forward, not just keeps the auditors happy. That's what this update is about.

More to come as the standard develops. Questions? Drop them below.

So excited for this year’s VA Summit 2026.

There’s something pretty special about spending a weekend surrounded by people who just get this industry. The learning, the conversations, the ideas, the motivation, the connections… I always leave feeling inspired and re-energised.

Ready to connect, learn and grow all over again. Bring on the weekend ✨ #VASummit2026 #VirtualAssistant #VACommunity #BusinessGrowth #VirtualAssistantAustralia

The summit is being held on 23-24 May in Queensland and focuses on learning, networking and industry growth for virtual assistants and online business professionals.

*
Nobody asked, but here’s what we’ve quietly prevented this week…

* Double handling the same task in three different systems

* A spreadsheet that only one person understands (and they’re on leave)

* Rebuilding the same document… again

* That vague, constant feeling that something is being missed

* A course going live with the wrong settings (at the worst possible time)

* A very awkward “who has access to this?” moment

* Sensitive information being sent without encryption

* Access permissions that were… a bit too generous

* Important data living in too many places at once

* “We thought the LMS was doing that automatically” (it was not)

Quiet work. Big difference.

Seven unexpected ways we’ve helped our clients this week

Not everything we do fits neatly into a job title… and that’s exactly the point.

This week, we’ve:

1. Gently convinced a very sceptical client that AI isn’t out to get her
2. Hunted down a top-tier AI speaker for a NFP event
3. Reviewed and updated credit insurance limits for 300+ customers
4. Found a home-away-from-home Airbnb for a new interstate hire
5. Helped a construction client make sense of WHS software options
6. Designed a WordPress newsletter for a women-in-business NFP
7. Went deep on novated leases and EVs so our client didn’t have to

Different industries. Different challenges. Same goal, making life easier behind the scenes.

If it’s on your list but not in your wheelhouse, chances are we can help.

Turns out, you can enjoy your hobbies… when your business isn’t always on your mind.

(Yes, I know this is a “Monday Post” and it’s Tuesday… I was busy enjoying my weekend 😌)

I used to think weekends were for “catching up”.

> Catching up on work.
> Catching up on emails.
> Catching up on everything that didn’t get done during the week.

Now I’m trying something different.

Crochet. A slower pace, and a brain that’s isn’t always running through a to-do list in the background.

Because here’s the thing - when your business is under control, you don’t spend your weekend dreading Monday. You actually get to enjoy it!

A lot of business owners I work with aren’t short on capability… they’re short on time (and headspace).

That’s where The Help Room comes in.

I step in to take care of the things that sit in that “important but never quite urgent” category. These are the tasks that build up, get delayed, and quietly create overwhelm both for you and your other team members.

If your weekends feel more like a spillover of the work week and your crochet is sitting unloved in the corner, it might be time to look for some support.

Here’s the reality check: 8 out of 10 people will view your website on their phone, not a desktop.

If your site doesn’t look good on mobile, you’re losing customers before they even call.

👉 Buttons too small to tap? Gone.
👉 Text too tiny to read? Gone.
👉 Menus that don’t load properly? Gone.

Your website should be designed mobile-first. That means:

✅ Big, clear buttons
✅ Easy navigation
✅ Images that resize neatly
✅ Fast load times

A mobile-friendly site isn’t a ‘nice to have’ anymore - it’s the dealbreaker.

If your website feels clunky on a phone, it’s time for a rethink. That’s where The Help Room comes in.
