๐Ÿ“ Koko CK | 5173 Bragg Blvd, Fayetteville, NC

If you know Bragg Blvd, you know itโ€™s probably the last place youโ€™d expect to find a cozy, family-owned Korean restaurant serving authentic Korean cuisine.

๐Ÿฒ You can order from 40+ traditional Korean dishes that are hard to find at many other Asian restaurants in the Fayetteville area. Iโ€™m a sucker for Korean fried chicken, with its crisp airy texture and special sauces.

โฐ A quick heads up: your food may take a little longer to arrive. The staff is small, and everything is prepared fresh to order. A little patience goes a long way.

๐ŸŒธ Flowers and delicate decor fill the space, creating a warm, homey atmosphere. The blue-haired server and tattooed cook only add to the charm, making the experience feel welcoming, comfortable and like a real genuine Korean eatery.

This North Carolina festival is one big joyful cookout. ๐ŸŒโœจ

From 1 to 7 PM, live DJs and loud speakers are playing all the major hip hop & rnb classics. Itโ€™s only intercepted by live concerts (the amazing @cyanca.mp3 and @therealdougefresh this year.)

๐Ÿฅ The Bimbeฬ Cultural Arts Festival in Durham was created to celebrate African and African American culture through music, art, dance, food, and community.

And the energy is unforgettable.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Cajun, Caribbean, Mexican food and MORE. Compliments flying left and right. Everyone respecting each otherโ€™s space. It looks crowded but not once did I bump into anyone. Family and ADA accessible.

๐ŸŽ’ Pro Tips for Next Year:
โ€ข Bring a lawn chair or blanket
โ€ข Pack an umbrella for shade
โ€ข Bring snacks because food lines and wait times run LONG
โ€ข Carry cash for ease buying from vendors.
โ€ข Compliment someone and make a friend.

If you love meaningful events filled with culture, creativity, and genuine human connection, put Bimbeฬ on your list for next year.

๐Ÿ” Save this post so you donโ€™t forget.

Yemen gave the world coffee. Literally. Every single cup youโ€™ve ever had can be considered possible thanks to Sufi monks in Yemeni Highlands over 600 years ago.

While the plant originated in Ethiopia, Sufi mystics in Yemenโ€™s western highlands, including the region Haraz, began cultivating coffee to stay awake during long, nocturnal spiritual rituals.

The Ottoman Empire then ran a successful monopoly on coffee for nearly 200 years until Dutch traders smuggled seeds to other territories.

Haraz Coffee House helped re-introduce Yemeni coffee to America. Haraz beans are grown at over 3,000 feet, where the dry mountain air and ancient farms produce something with a completely different profile than the average American coffee.

The flavor is bold and layered:
โ˜• Deep, bold, smooth
๐Ÿซ Dark chocolatey
๐Ÿฏ Naturally sweet
โœจ Lightly spiced

Often prepared with honey and warming spices like cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon, creating a cup that feels even richer and more aromatic.

Have you ever been to Haraz? If so, whatโ€™s your go-to order? ๐Ÿ‘€

Thereโ€™s a hidden mailbox at Fort Fisherโ€ฆ and I left a small treasure inside for whoever makes it all the way to the end ๐Ÿ‘€

On a serious note, what I found inside changed how I see people forever. Inside were notebooks filled with messages written by strangers from all over the world.

Some people just wrote about their day.
Some left jokes, doodles, and their names.
And some left personal memories, prayers, and advice without ever knowing if anyone would even read what they wrote.

Thereโ€™s something so intimate and romantic about leaving a part of yourself for strangers to find in a hidden location.

And of course, I had to leave gems of my own.

I couldnโ€™t share everything written, some things you should experience for yourself.

Iโ€™d love to know which of these letters is your favorite.

I used to think growth only came from staying, one upping myself, and taking on as much as possibleโ€ฆ

Always working, always planning, always trying to get ahead. It felt productive, but it kept my nervous system was never at rest.

Then I started giving myself moments like this.

No noise, no pressure to optimize anything, just being present long enough for my body to actually settle. At first, it felt unfamiliar. My mind wanted to fill the silence.

But the longer I stayed, the more I realized something.

A grounded mind thinks clearer. A calm nervous system makes better decisions. And the version of me Iโ€™m working toward shows up easier when Iโ€™m not forcing it.

This is where real growth started for me. Not in constant motion, but in moments where I slowed down enough to feel stable, aware, connected, and grateful.

If youโ€™ve been feeling burnt out or disconnected, thatโ€™s your sign you need to re-ground yourself.

What does slowing down feel like for you right now?

Share this on your story if it resonates, or youโ€™ve been craving a slower pace.

Send it to someone who needs this reminder before the work week re-starts.

Most people wonโ€™t make it to the end of this walk ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿชจ
๐Ÿ“ Fort Fisher to Zekeโ€™s Island, North Carolina

Thereโ€™s a nearly 2-mile rock wall stretching into the Atlantic that most people donโ€™t even realize exists, and itโ€™s slowly disappearing every year.

Built between 1865โ€“1881 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this jetty was designed to reshape the Cape Fear River, keeping sand from drifting, protecting ship routes, and sealing off channels used during the U.S. Civil War.

What it left behind is wild.

A shallow, protected lagoon called The Basin, now part of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve, where crabs, mollusks, croaker, and sheepshead fish have taken over the structure.

But hereโ€™s where it shifts.

This wall is over 200 years old and breaking down. The rocks are jagged, your footing moves under you, and strong currents run on both sides. The further you go, the more isolated it feels, and turning back starts to feel like the smarter option.

I made it about 3,500 feet in, roughly one third of the way, and had to decide.

Now Iโ€™m curious about you.

Are you finishing this walk or turning around halfway?

If this hits 50 comments, Iโ€™ll go back and attempt the full walk to Zekeโ€™s Island.

โš ๏ธ DISCLAIMER: I am not liable for any actions taken on or near this wall. Use discretion, wear closed-toe shoes, and check tides before attempting.

Send this to someone who would try it with you, or someone who definitely wouldnโ€™t.

North Carolinaโ€™s most underrated 1$ experience ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšข
Cape Fear River ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport

For about 35 minutes, you can cruise the Cape Fear river across open water with marshland, barrier islands, and endless sky all around you. (70-minutes if you pay another 1$ to immediately ride back)

Hereโ€™s what most people donโ€™t realize:

The Cape Fear River has been a major lifeline for centuries. Used by Indigenous communities long before colonization, then later becoming one of North Carolinaโ€™s busiest trade routes.

During the Civil War, the waters near Fort Fisher were part of the Confederacyโ€™s last open supply line before it fell.

Today, the Fort Fisherโ€“Southport Ferry still runs daily and itโ€™s only 1$ to walk and 7$ to drive on.

๐Ÿ“ Tip: Arrive early. You donโ€™t have to drive on and step out onto the deck if you can.

๐ŸŠ A quick tour of one of North Carolinaโ€™s most unique landscapes

๐Ÿ“ Lake Waccamaw in Columbus County is a biodiversity hotspot most people drive right past on Highway 74.

๐ŸŒฒ This area sits in a rare ecological zone where coastal wetlands and pine savannas exist side by side. The soil here is tough to survive in. Acidic. Nutrient-poor. Constantly shifting between wet and dry.

By all logic, this should limit life.

Instead, it multiplies it.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ This is a globally rare system where fire, sand, and water work together to create stacked microhabitats. You can find 50+ plant species in a single square meter, or up to 150โ€“300 species in just one acre.

Some plants even evolved to get nutrients by trapping insects.

And it doesnโ€™t stop there. This region supports a huge variety of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and wildlifeโ€ฆ including alligators.

๐Ÿž๏ธ Itโ€™s quiet, easy to overlook, and way more complex than it looks.

๐Ÿ” Save this for your next eastern North Carolina drive.

International foodies, this is upscale West African dining in Washington DC that lives up to the hype.

๐Ÿ“ The Continent DC | 1110 Vermont Ave NW, Washington, DC

โœจ The moment this hit the table, the aroma of spice kissed my nose.

๐Ÿ› This was my first time trying Suya and I got the combo plate (stewed chicken & flank steak). The jollof rice was rich, smoky, and slightly sweet from the tomatoes.

๐Ÿ– The fire sauce came in HOT (and the heat lingers) yet still so good on the umami, well seasoned, and tender suya. Warning: thereโ€™s a good amount of bone in the chicken.

๐Ÿ’ฐ PRO TIP: Order your drinks or small plates at the bar during happy hour. Even if you are seated, it will save you $$$.

๐Ÿน The cocktail, Alliance of Lagos, is one of the best cocktails Iโ€™ve had in DC. Smooth and not too sweet, with hints of pineapple, citrus, and cinnamon.

โฃ๏ธ If youโ€™re looking for something elevated, flavorful, and a little different from the usual DC spotsโ€ฆ this is it.

๐Ÿ”’ Save this for your next night out.
