BALI-FORNIA 001: It’s only when I landed in Bali & had to pay for my visa did I realise my pockets were EMPTY 😭

Has anyone else been as unfortunate (read:stupid)?

But I didn’t let that stop me, I was roaming around on pure vibes whilst scoping out a card machine in every restaurant 😂

Shout out Western Union because who knew they’re still effective. I even got a better rate than the FX shop was offering 💸🤑

5 THINGS IN BALI WORTH THE HYPE, SO SAVE THIS 🤝🏾

1. The breakfast scene in Bali is top tier & there’s a lot of choice. My favourites: @milkandmadu & @brunch_club_bali 🥪🥞🍳

2. You’re gonna have to work off that food & @reloadsanctuary is perfect for that. You can double it up with a pool day and lounge after 🏋🏾‍♂️💪🏾🧖🏾‍♂️

3. Mount Batur sunrise hike 🌄. Now for this one, you’re going to need some prayers that the weather is on your side. Because nobody is trying to wake up at 2am for grey skies, but otherwise 🤩

4. Take a surfing lesson with @froggysurfschool. Bonus points if it’s at Balangan Beach! 🏝️🏄🏾‍♂️

5. Uluwatu. Just Uluwatu. All of it.

4 Dubai food spots that residents would rather gatekeep 👀

1. @taqueria_elprimo_dubai 🌮. These are the best tacos I’ve had in Dubai & they’ve got a fantastic range too. Special mention to the Rib Eye & Chicken pastor 🤩

2. @hashmibarbeque.dxb 🥘 - this is an IYKYK spot. Food with REAL flavour. You’re spoilt for choice but the chooza chicken & the pili pili fries? Ooft.

3. @3.fils - I can’t actually box this into one category as they’ve got wagyu burgers with the softest bun ever, sushi, even noodles. Top spot, for a casual munch with a group of friends so you can try everything

4. @kokoro.dxb - I loved this place with the hand roll bar/counter-style seating. Everything is super fresh too. Really intimate ambience as you truly appreciate the sushi 🤌🏾

Solo trip ≠ lonely in my book. I still find the perfect balance & this is how:

1. Group activities: book group boat tours, city tours, cooking classes are a recent fave of mine. There’ll be others there & if you click fine, if not - a few hours and you never see them again 🤌🏾

2. Hostels are great for meeting people - that doesn’t mean you have to sleep there! Research, find a decent spot and pull up there at a fitting time 🙇🏾‍♂️

3. Take your hobbies on holiday with you. Is it padel? Running? Archery? I dunno. But when in Bali, @playtomic saved me and helped me find a match with ease 🎾

Be open, chat to people & most importantly - don’t be a weirdo 🤝🏾

Things worth the money 💸 - Travel Edition ✈️

Listen, don’t underestimate the power held in these simple items right here.

1. Universal travel adapter: saves you brain energy when packing. Dash an extension cord in for bonus points 🙂‍↕️

2. Bluetooth eye mask: I didn’t realise the comfort I was missing out on until I got one of these AND you can listen to music at the same time? Win.

3. The bum bag is the real hack. This is what you LOAD with your essentials - those powerbanks be heavy too. If you’re wearing it, they ain’t weighing it 🤷🏾‍♂️

3 EUROPEAN CITIES
I would love to revisit…

1. Hvar is basically Split’s classier cousin. I need to go there on a yacht next time in fact.

2. Lisbon, top 2 European cities for me. Sometimes you have to go back, just to make sure that a place is as good as you remember.

3. Sicily - Marsala was fantastic, but if still like to go again to explore more of Palermo & Catania too. Is it worth a trip?

*it’s criminal that I’ve not included Ibiza in this, but trying to keep it wholesome over here 🌚*
