Return of the Mac!

The price went up 🆙

I’m officially heading to USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy to pursue my Master’s in Public Administration. This gap year has been full of challenges, growth, and faith — and through it all, God has been so faithful.

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for this opportunity and the purpose behind it.

‘Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who trusts in Him.’ — Psalm 34:8 🙏🏽

Here’s to walking boldly in faith, stepping into new rooms, and serving with purpose! 📸 @yvngcatt #brojan #fighton taken in USC Sol Price School of Public Policy by @the.macc_

Even though my college days have swiftly passed, I have something that will last with me forever, my dear fraternity. I want to thank the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. for pouring into my cup since Fall 2022. I want to thank my prophytes of the Golden Gamma Xi chapter for setting the precedent of what being distinguished, irrepressible, transcendent, gifted, and zealous really is on both the UCLA campus and community. I want to thank my line brothers for being there for me in everything I did. I never grew up with brothers but thankfully now I have five. And lastly thank you to my neos, who taught me more than they can ever imagine about how to be a leader, a listener, a lie detecting EXPERT, and a role model. So when St. Peter asks me how I got to heaven, I’ll have a response for him. Y’all are good to stop peeping after this one because I’m done posting for now. Big Brother 2Mac alias Maccalations is now an alumni brother! ‘06TTGB🤙🏿🤙🏿 taken in The Underground by @the.macc_

This brotherhood is serious! Can’t be broken, can’t be bent. We laughed, cried, got drunk, prayed, and last but not least pushed each other to our limits, and when we got to that point we nudged each other a little further! The groomsmen in my future wedding, the uncles to my future children, and when I take my last breath, the pallbearers at my funeral. These are more than just “The Guys” or the “Core” of UCLA, these are my brothers! Now let’s TURN THIS CITY UP ONE LAST TIME! by @the.macc_

As I sit in this chair during my department graduation. While thinking about if I want to walk across the stage professional or show out so all my regalia falls off my shoulders. I also have no choice but to reflect over the past four years of my life! So much has changed from when I committed to UCLA to now graduating. I am thankful for both the good and bad times. I was unsure when entering UCLA what I was going to do here, who I wanted to be, and what I wanted to do. Leaving here, I have realized why God placed me here! He had a purpose for me. My name was in buildings that my feet hadn’t stepped in to. The scripture on my stole, Job 23:10, spoke to me, and I held it each and every day on my long walks to Haines Hall, Bunche Hall, and the Public Affairs building.

These four years have been TOUGH for me. From burying my father, the pandemic, the changes of the campus and world climate, and going through personal trials and tribulations. However, I persevered. I want to thank God, my family, my fraternity brothers, my friends, and everyone who I have met along this journey. All the long sleepless nights, early mornings, tiring days, and late nights at the function, I remained focused and determined. Even though it was hard, God and my village carried me. There is a poem called Foot Prints In The Sand that talks about a man walking with God and seeing two sets of foot prints in the sand but the man was confused that during his toughest times he only saw one set of footprints. God responded to the man that when he saw one set, HE was carrying him.

Thank you all for carrying me when the times got tough! I am forever grateful. Cheers to new beginnings, and congratulations to my peers in the class of 2024! WE UP! As my father used to tell me all the time, “You’re just passing through!” He would remind me of this when I would complain about any current situations in my life and encouraged me to keep going. So this one is really for him, the next one will be for me because The Mac is not done yet! The marathon continues! 💙💛 📸: @yvngcatt taken in University of California, Los Angeles by @the.macc_

I could say something catchy but it looks like the McLewis’s already have your attention! 👀 In all seriousness though, big shoutout to UCLA’s Class of 2020 PhD graduates who finally had the chance to walk the stage and be properly hooded. Not to mention one of them is my sister! We are so proud of you Dr. Channel C. McLewis. 💙💛 by @the.macc_

Yesterday was the toughest day of my life, I had to lay my father to rest! Hearing the words that your father passed away truly takes your breath away. I’ll never forget all the sweat, laughs, tears, memories, and stories we shared, all the lessons he gave me, and all the knowledge he instilled in me. I truly was blessed with the best father a young man could ask for. I’m forever grateful to have all the memories and to cherish them. I thank God for comfort, strength, and peace over myself and my family during this time. I thank all my friends and family for being so supportive in their own individual ways. From cards, to prayers, phone calls, and just thinking about us these past couple of weeks is truly amazing and it is so appreciated words cannot express our gratitude. I love you so much dad, you were my first best friend. Thank you for everything and don’t worry I’ll take it from here! Take your rest pops.. job well done 💙💛Special shoutout to @tamratay for the amazing shirts, masks, and haircut! 🖤 by @the.macc_
