“It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach.”
— Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays

On May 17, 2026, I officially became a Morehouse Man. The goal and the journey were personal. I endured because I owed it to myself. Beyond that, I owed it to those who believed in me. I owed it to those who came before me and who made the sacrifices and investments which made it all possible. I also owed it to those who look up to me. Thank you all for the support.

On one hand, this marks the completion of a goal that I set years ago. There were many roadblocks, setbacks, detours, and delays, but I was determined to finish what I started. On the other hand, this is merely a continuation of a chosen path meant to build something greater. It is an ongoing journey of growth, leadership development, self-discovery, building and cultivating community, and empowering the next generation of leaders. It is bigger than me.

It was truly a pleasure, Mýa. Thank you for the intimate conversation and for being gracious enough to give us a meet & greet with warm energy and genuine interactions. ✨️🤩🫂😩 @myaplanet9

Thank you to the National Museum of African American Music for hosting FRONT ROW at NMAAM [Follow @thenmaam ][Get a membership, too.]

This was an awesome way to celebrate Black Music Month and my birth month because the celebration is still going! Much respect to Dyana Williams. It was a pleasure meeting her as well. She's such a pioneer.

"The finish line is for the ego. The journey is for the soul."

It has been quite a remarkable journey. I have reached this point through determination, resilience, perseverance, and committing to do the work. Thank God, thank you to my support system & pillars of strength, thank you Dear Old Morehouse, and thank you to my Morehouse brothers. This experience has further stretched and strengthened me, and I am grateful for the defining moments along my personal path of growth and development.

I had to pick myself up deliberately. I had to close the chapter of unfinished business and start a new chapter. I had to forgive past versions of myself. Transparently, I had written another long post about disappointment, guilt, shame, depression, etc. I release that today. I choose to live in the present day, walk my own path, celebrate my accomplishments, and continue pressing forward. by @the.marco.dc
