Every single time I promise “this is the last one” and then... another book magically appears on my shelf 🫠
My TBR at this point is like - “Girl, when will it be our turn?”

Tell me, your TBR also judges you or is it just mine? 👇

People ask me what keeps me calm and happy.
It’s not one person. It’s every book that ever hugged me back.

They hold me when nothing else does.🌷

If you use this idea/template, please give a little credit, it took me a lot of heart to make it. Means the world 🤍

RAKSHAS: The Fall of Halcyon by M. Ninad
★ (4.2/5)

Set in the 27th century, Earth is no longer the Earth we know. It’s frozen, barren, and almost unliveable. The last of humanity is surviving inside Halcyon a city of seven domes built over Mumbai. It has its own artificial sky, sun and stars, and it’s controlled by Suprema, an AI system. And the only long-term hope is Mars.

To make that future possible, a new race was created - the Rakshas. Engineered to be stronger, almost unkillable, made for work no human could do. But like always, we feared what we created. At the heart of it all is Reckon. He is a Rakshas, but born different. He looks human, feels human, and was raised with love by his human mother Moniq. That mother-son bond was my favourite part of the book. In the middle of all the cold technology and frozen world, it adds so much warmth.

What I really loved is how Indian mythology, belief and emotions are woven into a very futuristic story. It never feels like a typical Western sci-fi, it has its own identity. The world-building is so detailed and cinematic where I could literally picture the domes, the frozen wasteland, the characters moving through it like a film.

It’s not just sci-fi. There’s mystery, conspiracy, power struggle, friendship, and a lot of questions about identity, prejudice and what it actually means to be human.

The pace takes its time in the middle, but the last stretch? It completely pulls you in. And the ending, it leaves you right at the point where a war is about to begin. I am now genuinely waiting for Book 2 to know what happens to Reckon and Halcyon.

If you like dystopian worlds, futuristic technology with a touch of Indian roots, and stories that make you feel along with the thrill, give this one a try.

Thank you @ninad.mhatre2 for sending this one my way. A different kind of sci-fi for me, and I really enjoyed it.

Some books just feel like a warm afternoon in your favourite cafe. Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa is one of them.
Takako moves to her uncle Satoru’s second-hand bookshop in Jimbocho after her life falls apart. No plans, just days surrounded by towering shelves of old books, the smell of paper, and quiet that slowly starts to heal her.

I loved watching her life at Morisaki unfold. Waking up above the shop, helping out with customers, finding little corners to read in, and those slow coffee moments in between. The bookshop itself feels like a character, so warm and lived-in, the kind of place you wish you could actually visit. To be honest, I won’t believe if book lovers who have read this book don’t want to live a life Takako is living in the Morisaki Bookshop.

Reading this with my iced coffee in a quiet cafe felt so right. It’s soft, comforting, and reminds you that sometimes you don’t need to fix your life all at once, you just need a good book, a cozy shelf, and time.

If you need a gentle, healing read, this one’s for you.

Petty Lies by Sulmi Bak 🤥
⭐️4.1 / 5

Sometimes, what looks like a small problem at first can slowly turn into something much bigger. That is one of the things Petty Lies by Sulmi Bakh made me think about.

The book brings out two themes that really stood out to me: animal cruelty and the importance of parenting. I liked how it shows that the way we treat animals and the values we teach children can have consequences.
It also reminds us that problems are best dealt with at the starting point. When we ignore something small, it can lead to another mistake, then another, until the situation becomes much harder to fix.

For me, Petty Lies was not just a story. It was also a reminder to pay attention to small things before they turn into bigger ones, and to understand how important our role as parents and adults can be.

‘Never Lie’ by Freida McFadden.
⭐️4.25/5

Deceived the whole time until that insane plot twist.
A must read if you are into murder mystery and love mind blowing twist.
I thought I had everything figured out, and then Chapter 46 happened. I literally had to stop reading and just sit with it for a minute. Freida McFadden really knows how to mess with your mind and this is why she’s the queen of plot twists.

If you’ve read it, you KNOW. If you haven’t, just wait till you get to Chapter 46.

Have you read this one? Did you see it coming?

THE HOUSEMAID 🔑 by Freida McFadden
⭐️4.25 / 5

“The secrets in this house will destroy you.”

Millie gets a job as a housemaid for the Winchester family. Rich house, perfect life, weird wife. What could go wrong? Everything.

The first 70% I was so sure I knew who to hate. Nina was unbearable. Andrew was perfect. Millie was ignorant. And then Freida just flips the entire book. That moment, realizing you hated the wrong person the entire time - that’s literally this book.

It’s fast, addictive, you will finish it in one to three sitting.

Have you read it? Did you see the attic twist coming?

“Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast.”
— Oscar Wilde

And I couldn’t agree more. Wilde’s wit is unmatched. This book was full of such sharp, sarcastic, and absolutely brilliant one-liners. A short read but so cleverly written.
