Curatorial Note for Winter 2026 • Under the same sky • The natural world has never been separate from human life. Especially in the Indian context, relationships with land, animals, and the elements have historically been embedded in cultural practice, spiritual life, and everyday rhythms. Yet, in the face of environmental degradation, urbanisation, and shifting ways of living, these relationships are becoming increasingly fragile. ‘More Than Human’ brings together a selection of films that explore this complex entanglement between humans and nature. They traverse both rural and urban geographies, moving fluidly between observation and storytelling, between poetic reflection and political urgency. Some document unnoticed beauty or traditional knowledge, while others confront ecological loss, displacement, and the economic and political realities of our dependence on nature. Grounded in both contemporary experience and cultural memory, the films offer nuanced perspectives on how we live with, shape, and are shaped by our environments. They invite us to reflect on a world in which we are not alone, and to reimagine our place within it. . #thenomadcafé #thenomadcafefilmclub #thenomadcafe #filmclubindia #filmscreening by @the.nomad.cafe
