Sisyphus was a king in Greek mythology who was punished by the gods with a task that could never be completed.

For eternity, he was forced to push a massive boulder up a mountain.

Every time he neared the top, it rolled back down.

So he would walk back down the hill and begin again.

Same rock.
Same hill.
Forever.

Thousands of years later, Albert Camus used Sisyphus as a picture of the human condition.

We wake up. We work. We train. We struggle. We raise families. We chase goals. We try to become better.

And then tomorrow comes, and much of it starts again.

Camus called this tension the absurd: we want life to hand us a clear meaning, but often it doesn’t.

His answer was not despair.

It was defiance.

“One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”

Not because the boulder will ever stay at the top.

But because Sisyphus chooses to push anyway.

Maybe meaning isn’t found at the top of the mountain.

Maybe it’s found in who you become while pushing.
