#jartzOCtober2026 Day 01: Fav OC - Kachi the Berserker, aka The Black Blade of Ashan
~
OCtober is here!!! Although picking a favorite OC was hard... but I settled on Kachi, the ML for my next webcomic, Daystar Rising ☀️⭐️

I really do love this OC! From his design and personality to his character flaws and secrets~ Just when you think you have him figured out, there's yet one more layer to unravel... I really hope I can do him justice and that you'll grow to love him, too!

Since I'm still gatekeeping his face reveal, I thought of a clever pose as a teaser 👀😈 What else do you want to know about him? Ask me in the comments and I'll answer as best I can without spoilers 😉💚

Shiver me timbers 🏴‍☠️😅 At least she's trying?!
~
I rewatched Castle in the Sky recently and couldn't get this out of my mind! Thought it was perfect for Wild and Sunny 🤭💚 I imagine this takes place after they run off together on their own ship... It was also fun coming up with a new wardrobe for them ✨️

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 14: Dressed to Impress
~
I think Kaibana is rather impressive 🤭✨️💚 Ultra quick sketch, because this dress should be much more opulent... but I was more focused on the colors and technique to make it look golden!

This dress is from a scene in my next webcomic, Daystar Rising ☀️⭐️ Although I will say our princess is not used to wearing something quite so flashy!

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 13: Fav Villain OC - Nunga the Void
~
This is an ancient creation goddess from my next webcomic, Daystar Rising ☀️⭐️ Nunga is the opposite of light. She was there when the world was created, but no one knows where she has disappeared to now. It's assumed she slumbers somewhere far, far away.

The lore states that Nunga first brings a never-ending winter, then an impenetrable darkness. 🌑 But she moves slowly, and intently...

I can't tell you more without spoiling anything 😉 but this is what the average citizen in my world would know. 👀✨️💚

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 11: Mafia AU - Through Thyme & Spice
~
Cye is determined to leave his life in organized crime before he turns 18. Sunny, a model student well-liked by everyone, begins acting out after learning of her father’s death. When Cye is asked to peer counsel Sunny, he reluctantly steps up, but only after avoiding her proves futile. He doesn't have time to worry about her drama on top of his own, but she may be the key to helping him break out.
~
Well, this is the same universe as my Modern AU OCtober prompt, and where the characters for Savvy originated from. A little angsty... 😅 but I think it conveys the plot well~

A quick sketch of Kaibana in her civilian/incognito dress 😏😘✨️ Kachi thinks she looks cute~ 🤭💚

I haven't figured out how I want to draw her boots yet...

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 07: Silver Fox OC - General Saitou
~
Enter Ashan's greatest general! He has been serving loyally under the king, Kaibana's father, for decades. Kachi's elite group reports directly to him, but he is not a fan of the Berserker... mostly because Kachi ends up doing his own thing instead of listening to orders 🙃

I never really thought of Saitou as a silver fox OC 🤭🤷🏼‍♀️ but ya know, it works! He's the grumpy type that is constantly exasperated and never smiles. But he is excellent when it comes to battle. I might make him a smoker to give him a "thing" along with his obsession with his gloves.

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 06: Gender Bend
~
OMG I've never considered a gender bend, but I'm LOVING Sonny and Cynthia 😆💚🏴‍☠️ although, I think Savvy would be a very different story 🤭

Captain Wild would be much more domineering and bossy, while Sonny would be more of a meek, cinnamon roll type. Wild would absolutely REVEL in teasing him~ 😈

What do you think about this change in dynamic?!

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 05: New OC - Veo, God of Death
~
Meet Daystar Rising's God of Death ☀️⭐️ Veo is strikingly beautiful to all who see him as they are ushered to the afterlife. He has two sets of hands to help shepherd and guide the countless souls he cares for. Sometimes, if you look juuust right, you can see a mortal's soul in the shape of a firefly...

With this firefly idea in mind, I modeled Veo a little after the insect! This gave me the idea for a second set of arms, the antennae, and wings (although we rarely see him with his wings out).

I've been wanting to sketch Veo for sooo long! Even though we won't SEE him in Daystar Rising for quite a while, you'll know he's around when you see fireflies 👀✨️ He's also Kachi's biggest fan 🤭💚

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 04: Modern AU - Through Thyme & Spice
~
I actually have a modern AU written 👀 and in fact, this is where Wild and Sunny derived from! It's a high school drama with a mafia subplot: He's trying to leave his life in organized crime; she's a model student who may be his key to breaking out. There's food involved, hence the cheeky title 😋

The second image is the first modern AU concept I made back in 2021! So this is a bit of a redraw 💚

Is this short story something you'd be interested in reading one day?

#jartzOCtober2026 Day 03: Street Wear
~
I figured a quick sketch of Sunny in a modern, oversized sweater would be in order 💚

Clothes are not my thing... I struggle with them so much, so I almost skipped this day's prompt. But honestly, what better way to practice, right? 🙃

So, I noticed I gave Sunny kind that 80s/90s big anime hair in the last sketch... then I decided to have some fun, ya know, really lean into it and...

WHY DOES THIS LOOK SO CUTE!? ✨️

Is big hair my thing, now?! 👀🤭
