We’re Celeste & Gigi, the two folks behind The Polish Flat! Thanks so much for being here. We wanted to share a bit about ourselves and the story behind our business! 🏡

The two of us met for the first time at a community rummage sale almost four years ago, just down the street from The Polish Flat! We found that we shared a lot in common, from being Milwaukee-born and raised to loving this city’s amazing architectural history to being able to go antiquing for hours on end.

Both of our families have deep generational roots in Milwaukee-- we each have Polish grandparents who grew up in Riverwest just blocks from where our store is located. A “Polish Flat” is actually a local nickname for a style of 19th-century building you can find in Milwaukee– it’s a multifamily home, with the units stacked on top of one another, typically built by Polish immigrants. When choosing a name for our business, we wanted something that reminded us of our home and our city’s story.

The Polish Flat store is a vintage, antique, and thrift shop that operates on a pop-up basis 2-3 times a month. We feature antiques, retro clothing and jewelry, quirky decor, interesting knickknacks, handmade art, practical household items, and even fresh local bakery during each popup. We like to say we are “curiously uncurated” because we don’t want to take ourselves too seriously. We want our store to feel like a treasure hunt in your own neighborhood!

We love preserving and sharing stories about our community and our city by creating a place for folks to be curious about old things. We hope The Polish Flat will inspire people to keep learning about our collective past, and invite folks to have conversations about the people, stories, architecture, and historical gems that make Milwaukee so unique. Our goal is to provide our community with a space to meet their neighbors, share stories about old things, and decorate their lives with secondhand finds.

Peach Beast’s new ℭ𝔞𝔟𝔦𝔫𝔢𝔱 𝔬𝔣 ℭ𝔲𝔯𝔦𝔬𝔰𝔦𝔱𝔦𝔢𝔰 collection of adornments will be on display, alongside enchanting candles from Doom Town & Country. We’re thrilled to have them both joining us to celebrate the season at the flat on October 10th!

Along with our Sun. 9/27 market at our brick & mortar shop, we hope to see you this Sat., 9/12 from 9-5pm in Riverwest at our favorite community flea market of the year!

At the biannual Riverwest Rummage Sale, you'll find 200 + vendors on 5+ blocks vending vintage and antiques at rummage sale prices, plus a variety of local art, food, plants & music. Swipe for photos from past years!

Find our booth halfway down the 3000 block of Fratney, just a half block away from our brick & mortar shop in Riverwest. We'll have a huge collection of autumn clothing like sweaters and skirts, discounted wares to welcome the new season, Halloween decor and so much more! See you there! 🍂

Yes we love our neighborhood and yes we will never stop talking about it!!! Summer evenings in Riverwest are unparalleled and so stunning when you pause to take in everything around you. ✨

Visit The Polish Flat in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee this Saturday, 8/22 from 10-3pm for our popup vintage market at 2974 n. Fratney.

Take a walk in our community if you're visiting from out of town-- we're ten minutes from trails on the Milwaukee River, have so many gardens and green spaces to admire and so many local businesses to check out!
