The Godspeed will be docking at The Slips and giving free tours on October 31st and November 1st! She is a replica of one of the first three ships to land in Jamestown in 1607. Join us in welcoming her to town!

On Friday, October 30th the 4th graders from Westmoreland and Richmond County public schools are coming over to participate in youth educational tours with the crew. They all took part in a drawing contest earlier this month, creating depictions of the ship! Congrats to our winner, Isabelle Basar, for her excellent drawing. A weekend of all our favorite river things - Camp Kinsale in October!

We’re lucky to have so many fun things right here at our doorstep. Kayaking, crabbing, fishing, sailing, the beach…but the best part are the people who help us make this camp experience extra special for the kids. Big thanks to our friends who provided a variety of skills and activities: leading lessons in checking crab pots, cooking, one donated spat for our oyster float demo, and one brought over a freshly caught rockfish & filleted it - just to name a few! These kids got the full Kinsale experience 🎣 taken in Kinsale, Virginia by @the.slips

These three are making lemons into camp scholarships, helping to send other local kids their age to our river & sailing camps 🍋☀️⛵️ They’ve set up a stand selling lemonade and treats at multiple events, with proceeds benefitting the Kinsale Waterfront Fund.

And this Fall we’re offering our first Camp Kinsale weekend. A shortened version of the river camp, the kids will take part in activities like kayaking, sailing, fishing, crabbing & oystering with lessons on local wildlife, history & cooking, too! Held October 10th & 11th from 10-5 each day, ages 6-14. For more information and to register, check out www.the-slips.com/activities.

Plans for the long weekend:
• Friday: Lucky’s open for club members 4-9PM
• Saturday: Lucky’s bar & Wumami food truck open to all from 12-8PM! Live music from Alex Kerns 6-9PM. Fireworks at 8:30PM over the river by the Fire Dept
• Sunday: Yoga 9-10AM. Lucky’s open to club members 12-6PM. Triviah from 4-6PM!
• Monday: Relax by the pool. Day passes available online
