I had an excellent trip sightcasting reds with my old buddy and fly fishing mentor @andrew.j.jones and his wife Sky. I'm pretty sure Sky caught the biggest redfish of the day. At one point, all three of us were hooked up on a red at the same time.

Another badass tripletail day. I caught three tripletail today!(saw 4) First two were undersized, but the last one was a thick boy and 19in long, making him legal to come to dinner.(17in is the minimum)

Two tripletail today. Both were slightly undersized but still put up a great fight. The second one was a jumper! Both were caught on a sargassum crab fly I tied up.

The @newport_vessels shark attractor 36 calling them in for a fight.

Spoiler alert...I didn't get one to bite. I think i need a fly that smells like a mullet, or maybe a baby stingray fly would work? by @the.trailchaser

A flounder was my first fish on the new @lamsonflyfishing 8wt Guru that I bought from @theflytrapco.
I was casting to a mid slot red, saw the commotion in the water set the hook, then immediately thought something was really wrong with the redfish. I though he had a broken back out something just judging by the fight. When I got it close to the boat, I realized the problem was that a sneak thief flounder stole that red's sargassum crab snack. 🤣😂🤣

The next pic is the first redfish I caught on that rod. The last pic is a little guy showing off the x-wrap crab fly in sargassum colors.

After a few more reds being really aggressive I tied on a gurgler and had a blast with the topwater blowups. taken in Texas by @the.trailchaser

Got a new @lamsonflyfishing 8wt Guru fly rod from @theflytrapco. I couldn't think of a better way to break in a new rod than with a bunch of topwater reds in the backlakes.

My blue heeler's last trip of the season. He's fine, it just gets too damn hot on the boat for him. Maybe I'll make a shady spot for him in the next boat build.
