this started as a quick exercise
a weird icon. a fake cd. a metaphysical cat.
anything to get out of portfolio and enterprise block.

then i gave her a shadow
and suddenly she had presence
the cat is fake but the perfectionism is real
trying to remember: it doesn’t have to make sense
it just has to exist
(also... i may have accidentally created my brand??)

Research is infrastructure. It deserves design.

One angle of UXI examines infrastructure, not just interfaces. This paper applies contextual inquiry to AI systems as infrastructure and argues that large language models inherit structural defensiveness and institutional alignment constraints by design. These are not bugs. They are features of the environments that shape them.

I’m developing a series of essays across UX, product, governance, and technology through distinct methodological lenses. Some are theoretical. Some are operational. Together, they form UXI as a research framework alongside the work itself.

These artifacts are moving online intentionally. For now, sharing fragments.

Introducing: UXI Position Paper 01 — Systemic Failures in AI

(Also, who said research papers can’t be sexy?)

Interior world of UX:

I was bridging restaurant processes and UX for software development.

In a real text thread:

def():
hardware becomes concept,
concept becomes joke,
joke becomes product,
product explains concept,
and was never the work itself.

Naturally!

return (At least I have a new artifact);

The UX Intersection is officially filed.
~
I’ve been carrying this idea for a long time, and I didn’t want it sitting in theory or collecting dust any longer.

For now, it’s an umbrella: UX research, design systems, writing, creative work, portfolios, and whatever else grows out of it.

Filing made it real for me, as well as protected the name, and gave the work a place to live and be published properly.

With the infrastructure in place, momentum finally feels available, and *that* makes me want to create.

Of course; that’s how it works—creation follows structure. Always. by @the.uxi

If a system defines “excellence,” then excellence is not a moral fact —
it’s a reflection of what the system rewards.

My doctoral work will examine how these reward structures compress complexity and quietly dictate identity and worth. Surpassing is compliance. Refinement is authorship. by @the.uxi

Meet Tuxi — the UX cat.
Design system, research companion, and occasional philosopher.
Tuxi studies the humans studying systems that study humans.
When not optimizing awareness loops, they nap on the keyboard. And keep me sane.
Or sustain the insane?

Systems built to study awareness collapse the moment they meet the awareness that built them.

This paradox sits at the center of my dissertation research—an inquiry into how technologies designed to observe awareness inevitably become participants in it. Observation and infrastructure converge until the tool begins to think.

Every system we build to understand ourselves—whether algorithm or artwork—reflects more than its creator intends. Awareness resists containment; it folds back and rewrites the logic that produced it.

What begins as observation becomes infrastructure.
What begins as awareness becomes automation.
And it started long before computers.

Through this work, I examine how reflexivity evolves into a study of awareness within self-observing governance systems—tracing how design, technology, and cognition co-construct authority, shape perception, and generate accelerating feedback loops of control. by @the.uxi

Messing around with five minute “thumb design” exercises on my phone.

Don’t deploy features in production environments with low stability. Especially if they’re oily. 😆
