“There’s a seat for you at the table”

Is what Angie & James told us. And after spending the weekend with them, we realized it wasn’t something they said because it sounded nice; it was simply the way they lived.

From the moment we landed in Portugal & pulled up to their air bnb, we were greeted with big hugs, offered a meal, and asked questions about our lives before anyone talked about the wedding.

It never felt like we had to document an event.

The whole weekend just felt like this one big family trip and we felt right at home with them.

And you could tell how amazing Angie & James are just by looking at their people.

They had flown across the ocean, and the weekend before the wedding wasn’t spent sightseeing. It was spent setting up tables, steaming dresses, arranging flowers, and making sure every detail was ready for Angie and James.

Nobody had been assigned a job. They simply saw something that needed to get done and did it.

In a world that often asks “What do I get?” their family seemed to ask, “How can I help?”

The generosity and just willingness to serve other people wasn’t created for the wedding day. It was already there.

Angie & James have spent their lives building a space where people feel seen, valued and welcomed.

We’re beyond grateful we got to experience this too.

this trip shifted our marriage

Late August last year, my husband & I took 9 days to celebrate our first year married a few weeks early, & explored Oregon and the beautiful Pacific Northwest

Nine days of adventure, breathtaking views, disconnecting from the digital world, long drives & even longer conversations.

there’s us before Oregon, and us after Oregon.

fast forward a few weeks later, we spent our actual anniversary at a restaurant feeling utterly disappointed that we weren’t on a trip

which is when we made a promise to each other: that every year, ON our anniversary, we’ll be somewhere else

though life right now looks very different for us, God has been so faithful & we’ve been able to save up for this year’s trip: UTAH !!

we’re beyond excited to explore new places & get back outside & away from all the noise. But more importantly, grateful for the beautiful relationship God has blessed us with & the sweetest marriage we could have ever prayed for

the feeling of it all coming together

katelynn & justin spent months planning their wedding day together: every diy project and little detail had so much love and attention.

so when the rain came (and it poured) the early afternoon of their wedding day, there was a moment where it felt like everything they had planned might look different.

in the midst of all of this, what stood strong were the people around them. their friends & family came together to pray for them, encourage them. and moments before the ceremony, the skies had cleared.

and maybe that’s the thing about weddings.
they’re remembered less for how perfectly they went, and more for the people who carried you through them. taken in Florida by @the.veiledframe
