Actors Tony Ongart @tonytheboywholived and Christian Perez @thecaribbeanthor have worked on films including Mortal Kombat, Balls Up and The Get Out… but how much do they actually live in their characters? 🎬 by @the.wall.avck

Everyone say Hi 👋 to Tony by @the.wall.avck

A lot can go into a few seconds on screen that the audience will never know about.

I originally had no dialogue in this shootout, but we’d been told there could be opportunities to improvise, so I came prepared. I thought of the final shootout in Scarface and how that chaotic energy could work for my character — coming from a drug lord’s pool party, off his face, suddenly being shot at without knowing where it was coming from. I don’t really speak Portuguese, so I worked with the dialect coaches beforehand on what I wanted to say if I got the opportunity.

By my final day, I’d seen how Peter Farrelly worked, especially in our scenes with Sacha Baron Cohen, and how much room he gave actors to improvise when it worked for the scene. We’d built a working relationship, so I felt comfortable asking.

As a supporting actor, I’m there to support the leads, not try to take the spotlight. In this case, my suggestion served the scene, Peter liked it and they mic’d me up. Then I found out I’d also be doing my own stunt instead of the stunt double I’d been told I’d have. I had no stunt training back then, so the stunt team taught me on the spot and suddenly all those pieces had to come together.

It’s only a few seconds on screen, but knowing what went into them is why it’s still my favourite scene — even when people tell me they hate seeing me die 😅

More than just a runway show, VALOR explores men’s mental health, resilience, identity, and self-expression through fashion, storytelling, and creativity.

Christian and Tony will be walking in the show on June 13, and we’d love to see members of The Wall community there supporting an incredible cause.
