Sometimes you don’t know if you are actually sick at first.

Society will tell you that you are simply sad.

I always called depression a minefield littered with holes.

It’s too easy to trip and fall into one, and then you are enveloped by the blackness.

The holes are endless pits. And crawling out is the hardest part.

I was a bird that could sing with words. I could string angelic sentences. But then they clipped my wings.

That’s what starting medication felt like.

25,000 words. One week.

Then medication cut my candle at the wick.

At least, that’s what it felt like at first.
