Since January 2025, at least 239 children have died from starvation and severe malnutrition in El Fasher – part of broader food and medical shortages in besieged North Darfur. Since the war in Sudan erupted in April 2023, more than 8 million people have been displaced—many seeking refuge in neighboring countries like Egypt. The conflict has devastated communities, destroyed vital infrastructure, and left millions without access to food, shelter, or medical care.
