He doesn’t love me. He loves the possibility of snacks. 😂🐮
He got brushed today, but no treats. Next time Roman. 😅

Nothing gets 2,000 pounds of Highland fluff moving faster than the possibility of a treat! 😅

Picking up snakes to relocate them? No problem!

Crawling into a tight, dark hole under an old barn? Absolutely not. 😂

Thankfully, Rich is always up for anything and that’s how we found an old cistern hiding underneath the barn. We think it dates back to the mid-late 1800s.

Some mornings I’m so busy feeding everyone and getting things done that I forget to notice how peaceful it all sounds. I have to remind myself to slow down and take time to listen! 🤍

Safe to say these were a hit. 😂🐔

@coohgrubs & @inpetsbio sent our flock some of their 100% plant-fed larvae to try, and the chickens wasted absolutely no time digging in!

One thing I really liked learning about their product is that the larvae are raised on a completely plant-based diet. According to INPETS, this helps reduce the risk of things like heavy metals, microplastics, and viruses—which is something I can definitely appreciate when choosing treats for the hens that give us our eggs. 🥚🌱

Gifted product • no discount code, just some very happy chickens. 🤍 by @the5beesfarm

Turns out I didn’t need a new walkway—I just needed a shovel and a lot of patience. 😂

The slate path was already here, buried beneath years of dirt and thick Bermuda Grass. Digging it out was no joke! I reset the stones and added $35 worth of pea gravel. Not bad for a project that could have cost close to $2,000! 🙌

They know the sound I make when it’s time for their favorite treat—and they come running! I love how perfectly in sync they were today. 🥰

Between our compost pile and sharing safe kitchen scraps with our chickens, we don’t have much food waste around here. 🌱🐔

Today’s treat was plain yogurt, berries, chia & flax seed and granola. We definitely don’t feed all leftovers—foods like avocado, chocolate, onions, and anything moldy or overly salty or sugary are off-limits. Treats are just an occasional snack, and their balanced layer feed is still the main part of their diet.

Honestly, I can’t tell who’s acting more casual—the chickens or the snake.😅

My gardening style is best described as “hope for the best.” 😂🌱

Thankfully, there are still plenty of vegetables growing among the weeds. 🙌🥕

His calmness around the bees doesn’t alarm them. He’s spent enough time around them to stay calm. Me? I’ll stick with my bee suit. 😅🐝
