Hi. I’m Zharmaine Boatman, Editor in Chief of The 824 Journal and co-owner of 824 Brand Productions (@824brandproductions), and this is the Journal’s new home on Instagram. The 824 Journal is an independent Southern California culture publication. We cover music, live events, conventions, and the artists and creators behind them, with original photography and reporting from the floor. Until now the Journal lived on my personal account, @zharmaaaine. This account is for the publication: the coverage, the features, the people we meet along the way. Follow along; Long Beach Comic Con coverage starts today. #The824Journal #LongBeach #SoCal #VisualJournalism #MusicPhotography Portrait of Zharmaine Boatman, Editor in Chief of The 824 Journal, seated on a caramel leather sofa against a teal wall. She has long dark hair, wears a black blazer dress and a thin gold necklace, and smiles at the camera with one arm resting on the sofa. taken in Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center by @the824journal.press

Every show, I try to catch a silhouette. I’m fascinated by how much an image can say without needing to be loud. @andyjamesguitar of @5fdp at the @fmbamp #andyjames #fivefingerdeathpunch #5fdp #5fdp4life #livemusic Andy James of Five Finger Death Punch plays guitar in silhouette at the F&M Bank Amphitheater in Long Beach, backlit by teal and blue stage lights. taken in F&M Bank Amphitheater by @the824journal.press
