There might be spoilers in this post so if you haven't read the mirror of infinite endings slide at your own risk.

My heart is so full of love after finishing this book. I kept wondering what else Stephanie @stephanie_garber could possibly write to give this masterpiece of a trilogy the perfect ending, but as I turned every page, I realised exactly why I love her books so much and why I love this series so deeply.

God, I can’t even put into words how much these characters mean to me.

This book felt like a little glimpse into what the happily ever after looks like for Evangeline and Jacks. And you might think (because I definitely do) that love stories lose a little of their magic after the confessions, once the longing and tension are finally over. But somehow, this novella was still toe-curling, heart-warming, whimsical and magical through and through.

And just like all good things, this series has come to an end. But there will always be a little corner of my heart reserved for Evangeline and Jacks. Forever. 🦊🏹🍎🎀💗

I can never write a good review for this book because I know I can never do justice to this book through any words…but it doesn’t mean I won’t try.

I picked this book without reading the blurb and I was expecting some complicated classic love story but to me, it felt more like a contemporary romance except someone added a creepy mansion, strange noises and lots of mystery in it. But this wasn’t what kept me hooked to the story but it was Jane’s character. And I’ll talk about it later in this review because I am losing the trail of my thoughts here.

I really loved how this book is written. It feels like reading somebody’s journal and the best part was how Jane always addressed us readers in her inner monologue.

“Dear Reader…”

What soothed my tiny delusional heart was the yearning between Jane and Mr. Rochester. It was excellent. I felt second hand embarrassment with Jane, I felt the tension in each stare, I longed to see Mr Rochester like she longed to see him and I felt her little crush develop into love. I sometimes even feel that love is not a strong word for what they have but maybe we use it too casually and the real definition of the word is what I read in this novel.

Jane is one of the finest characters I’ve ever come across. There’s a lot of hype around her and I get it guys…I finally get it. She’s quiet but not weak, she’s independent but without constantly having to prove that she is. She has her own opinions and never for once did she put anyone else’s choice above hers and let it cloud her judgement. She chose herself over and over even when it was the hardest thing to do and that’s the conscience everyone should have. Maybe that’s what makes her such an iconic character over almost two decades.

And before I finish writing this review, I wanted to tell you all that this month was weird for me, that I have to make so many decisions recently and it was hands down one of the most eventful phase of my life and because I was constantly accompanied by Jane throughout this storm, I made it out, better and stronger than ever and a part of me owe this story for it. And maybe that’s why I never wanted to reach the last page.
