Had a little time to process the excitement. Gratitude. Love. Fear. Courage. Celebration. Technical Difficulties. 😂 🤗 I can’t believe I got to warm the stage and green room with Robby & John TOGETHER! To see them soundcheck and iron out a song they’ve NEVER PLAYED LIVE TOGETHER! On the 60th anniversary at the venue that shaped them. It’s nuts. 🥜 ———————-However————————>😤😳 Funny story it seems that quite often in the past (I’m trying NOT TO MANIFEST MORE so I’m choosing my words wisely) I have technical difficulties right before big performances. The venue had to fix an issue when I was supposed to be checking so I changed my clothes and did my makeup instead. No problem. Then when I got up there my screen started glitching. 😱 so I restarted, moved a bunch of stuff to my external and accidentally moved the clips of Robby talking that I planned to use. 5 minutes before doors I had to find the clips, re-import, etc and start the show. I was nervous at first so I fumbled a couple of words, but other than that I did pretty good! Only one tiny mistake. My lesson is always take a deep breath and focus on how to calmly remedy. And to remember I’m DJing and making jokes on a mic. Not performing brain surgery. “I’m 40 going on 14” is the joke I’ve been overtelling lately. 🤣 my first show in a band, was with my friends… a block party, literal garage show, that we built together. And it was so amazing. The whole block and beyond came together and it was a blast. Backstory. I met @whisp_music & @kellymaglia years ago after the pandie at LBK. Fast forward they ask me to join the band. I decline at first because I was too busy *cough - intimidated😮‍💨🤣*. Then they circled back to double check, and I’m so glad they did. And I met my rhythm section homie @loudriver23 and now you can find us in the corner putting the FUN in Funky. We are artists, ALL doing things we’ve literally NEVER done before, ever, in this band, and building it as we go. Whisp is Tim Langeloh’s project, and he trusted his buds to open up and to help him make his project into a live show. We’ve not even been a band for 3 months yet! AND CREATED A LIVE VERSION TO PERFORM IN THAT SHORT OF TIME. (I bought my first acoustic drum set 30 seconds AFTER I said I’d join the band 🤷🏽‍♀️😆).This band is a unicorn for sure as Lou says. We really have a wonderful time creating, learning and friending together and having fun! I have a lot to work on. Shamelessly. I’ve never done more than one song at a time at a jam, so 6 felt crazy at first!! Here is a sample of one of my favorites from the day. It’s tough when 6 out of 6 songs are your favorite though.
